If you go in for a routine eye exam, be careful on what you tell them - I mentioned an eye procedure from three decades ago, and because of that, the classified the exact same routine eye exam as a different "code". Any medical history codes won't be covered by your vision provider. None of this will be explained to you ahead of time. The cost went up 20x the expected copay. It doesn't matter if you specify the exact eye examinations you want, and agree to pay for - they will bill you after for whatever is coded and the doctor will refuse to change it."
