"Stay Away! Poor staff - No compromise. Read some of latest poor reviews. Same thing. Unacceptable service and demeanor - especially for the tri-town area. I live in Topsfield and have so for almost 30 years now. I used this place for years up until today. The Dr. is good however I think that is it with regards to the current staff these days. I came in with my wife for some new lenses on a few pairs of my glasses. I showed the prescription and offered lens details to the staff and then they asked for my insurance card. My wife checked for her insurance card but after searching - she could not find it. I asked the secretary if our insurance number was on record - and she replied it was. I said back to her that my coverage has not changed, but the staff said they need to see the card for them to proceed. My wife and I went back home to look for the card but to no avail. We did find our sons card and so and we went back to the office to try to talk to the staff so they can use the number what was on record and that they could see that my sons card has this very same number. Worst case, the staff would have to call the insurance company to verify that my number is still valid. The staff however basically told me to pound the pavement and go away until they see a card. I then replied on the way out to the staff that they lost faithful customer and that I will now take my business elsewhere. My wife went online after returning home again and ordered the card to be sent us. I have never written a review at all before, but this place has gone so downhill lately that I finally broke down - signed up and in just to write this. I was not pleased the visit before this a year or so ago either - but not enough to write a review. What the staff should have done was to say that they will reach out to the insurance company to verify my insurance number and once my number has been verified, that they will call/text me back to leave me a message that we can now proceed with the lenses. All would have been good."
"Oh wow, what a fantastic experience. Usually one doesn't go for a doctor appointment expecting to get a vibe going for the day, but from AnnMarie checking me in, to Gretchen doing the work up, followed by Dr. Seymour doing the actual exam and finally Rita setting up the glasses, it was perfect. Special kudos to Dr. Seymour, his manner and his knowledge are top notch. I will recommend these folks to any and all. Thank you!"
"My Eye Dr. in Topsfield specializes in excellent service. From a thorough and informative eye exam to the process of eyeglass selection and fitting, I was treated to kind and very thoughtful assistance. Always going that extra mile is their hallmark. I appreciate all they do for me."
"The staff was wonderful. I have been a customer for several years when I was in an accident and my glasses were destroyed. They went above and beyond to make me a temporary replacement pair until I was well enough to go out and return to the store for my new glasses. They were compassionate and attentive to my needs. Thank you"
"I've been going to Dr. Seymour for my routine eye exams since the business was 'Independent Eye Care.' I've always appreciated his approach, in that he performs a detailed exam including glaucoma testing and retinal imaging, and he explains everything in easily understandable terms. The shop is small, so it doesn't carry a huge volume of eyeglass frames, but it does have a nicely curated selection of current styles. It does seem that patients are encouraged by the physical setup to purchase glasses on their way out of the exam, sort of like passing through the gift shop when exiting a museum, but I've never minded that as most often I am interested in buying new glasses, and the sales people do not exert pressure to buy. They explain any current 'special sales' and are there to help if you're interested. After my most recent exam, I bought a new pair of frames with my new prescription, and had an older pair of Ray-Bans that I'd owned since two prescriptions ago retrofitted with new sunglass lenses. The staff was happy to accommodate that request, and the results are great. For a reasonable overall price, I received a thorough exam and got updated regular glasses and sunglasses. A pleasant overall experience, friendly people (Mitzi {sp?} is great), and I'll be back next year."
