"The Postmaster wants to hear about your experiences! He's relatively new & very receptive. The counter staff are rotten. They were of zero assistance when I was trying to mail a package to my Army Soldier son. No available pen, paper or tape when asked. Then one of them called me out & said that I had a bad attitude & it was people like me who are the problem. She yelled that she had witnesses. I asked to speak with the Postmaster & he was nice to deal with. They put the wrong people's mail in my PO Box. They withheld certified mail. They were late in sending a package that I tracked. We all need to write our complaints to the Postmaster!"
"all this is true and more I am a lifelong Mainer & Senior. It's the first time in our lives we have had all the same things as mentioned happen also with our delivery service in last few years. Once even our united states passports ending up 1/2 mile away! Thank God for an honest citizen returning them just in time."
"The staff working inside the post office are always rude. They really need to fire them and hire someone who actually wants to be there. Not often, but I've had packages tracking show they arrived at the post office and not be delivered for over a week while my regular mail was."
"The stars don't lie (...just reading through the many commiserations on here). C'mon, you guys! The mail carriers are often personable, but despite living one block from this P.O., I have to drive elsewhere to get proper service. I've had the clerk get frustrated with me for sending out a batch of books to various places (I'm a writer. I sent the remainder of the shipment from Wiscasset with zero problems and abundant pleasantries.) Just now the clerk refused to advise me on the correct way to address an overseas package (I'd heard USPS prefers "Great Britain" to "United Kingdom," and wanted to confirm, since this is work-related), nor would she check in their system. She would not enter the address into their system (to reveal the correct country format) until I had filled out the address entirely on the customs form and envelope, or allow me to alter what I'd written "once it was on the scale." Apparently placing an item on the scale is a binding commitment. You see my conundrum. So I had to give up in search of a functioning P.O.. As I left she called after me: "Maybe if you'd addressed it properly...""
"The postal service in Gardiner maine has hot to be the worst I've ever experienced, I had a package last week delivered to Randolph and I live in farmingdale. Today track said another package was delivered it has been out for delivery for 2 days. I've had several packages sitting in the post office for over a week not even scanned and this year alone I have lost over $100 in packages not received. It takes an act of congress just to try to get ahold of someone. This is totally unacceptable"
