Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation

The Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation, located at 45 Francis Street in Boston, Massachusetts, is a leading health institution dedicated to ensuring patients are fully prepared for surgery or procedures. The center, named after Roberta and Stephen R. Weiner, offers comprehensive preoperative assessments either in person or over the phone as instructed by your doctor.

During your visit to the Weiner Center, you will meet with a nurse practitioner who will coordinate any necessary tests with your surgical care team. While you will not meet with an anesthesiologist during your pre-op appointment, the nurse practitioner will consult with the anesthesiologist to ensure you are ready for surgery.

For certain procedures, such as cardiac or vascular surgery, your pre-op appointment may take place at the Watkins Clinic in the Shapiro Center, where you will also meet with a nurse practitioner from the Weiner Center. Additionally, if medically appropriate, a phone assessment may be conducted in place of an in-person visit.
