Reviews of Gastroenterology Healthcare Associates
"Small office not part of the hospital they don't have any nurses or physicians assistance available. My relative had a surgical procedure done not related to gastro but then she started having complications in that area. My relative and myself contacted the doctor feeling that this was the appropriate thing to do even though the doctor had nothing to do with the surgical procedure because now that area of the body is involved. My relative is confused be due to a stroke and did not give me correct information about the interactions. We were getting mixed up information from too many people involved I wanted to clarify with the specialist for this part of the body which I feel was appropriate in doing so not only did I receive callous treatment from the secretary who was defensive and more concerned with defending the actions of the doctor then caring for the patient but also when I became firm and direct about the situation needs to be clarified there's too many people involved with different opinions and I need an actual phone call the doctor called back later and actually concerned herself with the secretaries complaint about the interaction claiming there was anger involved and that the secretary was not happy with the interaction and basically was cold and callous and then expressed her main concern was to be protective of her office staff. As a caregiver and a relative I was basically scolded like a child for being upset and protective of my relative opposed to her office staff who have not just come out of surgery and a stroke with a caregiver who's confused about what direction to go and when there's complications. Total lack of compassion. Stay away from this office other providers in this office might be much better providers and caring and believe in the first do no harm pledge. However adding stress to an already burdens caregiver is definitely doing harm. I was made out to be overdramatic inappropriate angry etc. Me being firm and direct and sounding a bit excitable is not me being angry and I can also say that I am part Italian and that might be a reason for discrimination because maybe we sound excitable and they believe that we're angry. I've actually received this kind of racial discrimination based criticism from multiple non-italian people that complain that we talk with our hands too much as well as we are too excitable. so I'm going to contact the office manager and patient advocacy and make it clear that they should be concerned more with the patient and the caregiver and trying to help the person sort things out as opposed to be defensive and concerned with themselves. If you have similar issues with this office and their self-centeredness and not paying attention to the predicament of the patient and the caregivers and only focusing on being controlling for whatever their reasons are I highly suggest that you complain to the hospital. There's far too many of these associate type of outfits inside of hospitals where people believe they're getting the standard of care that you get from the hospital when in fact you're getting just a doctor's office with a secretary and an overworked doctor. Their defensiveness can be explained away perhaps in their lacking. I suggest you go someplace else."
"Dr. Denmark is so professional and genuine in her care. She listens to her clients and gives feedback to construct a plan for daily living and future preventative testing. I highly recommend her as a provider and look forward to continuing my care with her. As a health care provider myself, I trust my care with her and her staff. Lily, her director assistant in the office is amazing. She is always on top of the schedule and works hard to meet the clients needs. I have had the best experience with this staff and MD. Thank you."
"Dr. Bailen and his team are fantastic. I have been treated by this office for around 15 years and am confident that I'm receiving the best possible care. Even in times when my doctor hasn't been available, someone from the office or another physician always gets back to me. I highly recommend this practice!"
"Had an appointment here for 2:30PM and several reminders on Patient Gateway and on voicemail reminding me of the appointment I made over 3 weeks in advance per Dr. Lee's recommendation. I arrive a few minutes early to check in and only one of the windows is open. She extracts my co-payment immediately and I sit down to wait. I watch the time pass by 20 minutes and ask if they know how long before I will be seen by Dr. Lee. These people behind the counter have no idea so she just throws out "5 to 10 minutes" I let her know that I need to leave by 3:30PM and she says "Yeah I think you should definitely be ok." Mind you I'm also incurring more charges for parking by the minute! (There's no charge for 30 minutes or less since most appointments are quick, but they don't take into account the arduous amount of time spent in the waiting room wasting your life away.) 30 minutes pass by and I have a sinking feeling that I will not be seen. I ask again if I can reschedule and receive a refund since it was getting to a ridiculous point and what the earliest time is? 10:15AM... great so in the middle of the morning I'm just supposed to drop all my stuff to come here for a check up? Methinks not! Perhaps wanting to reschedule delivered the sense of urgency? However the admin/secretary quipped back rudely, "Patients should expect to be flexible with their time when they have an appointment here." Seriously?! What's the use of actually having an appointment then?! She then also tacked on "We are a private practice." Ok so that is supposed to absolve you of any accountability to patients of timeliness? They finally got me into a room where a lazy nurse took my vitals; that involved her wrapping my arm with the blood pressure machine and just asking me my weight. My blood pressure of course was slightly elevated from this whole ordeal. She then left the room and said, "the doctor will be in shortly he's right across the hallway." I waited and waited and waited until 3:30PM...the time I specifically mentioned I needed to leave by. OVER AN HOUR?! Without so much as a word from the Doctor? I suppose the other patient was much more important that he couldn't even grace me with his presence. Now I've had a positive experiences with Dr. Lee in the past when I was referred directly from the ER and they squeezed me in for an appointment right at 8:15AM, but I guess he usually does operations in the morning hence why the earliest appointment is at 10AM. Anyway this entire experience today is unacceptable treatment of a patient! Complete waste of my time + PARKING FEES. Also don't get me started on that god forsaken switchboard when you call this office. It takes 10 minutes to get through to one of the apathetic admin on the phone not to mention even getting a hold of the doctor. This private practice place shows little respect for the patients they are supposedly helping contributing to my overall distrust"
