ABF Freight

"The folks at the Portland depot are helpful and responsive. I've taken about 30 pallets over the past year from ABF and the LTL loads are delivered intact and without damage. I have pallet-shifting and lots of case damage with TForce, Estes, and XPO. No damage with ABF thus far which might mean that they're bracing the loads better. The lane between the Mississippi River and Portland is congested and the loads are consistently late by 5+ days. I can live with slowness. I've had some billing adjustment issues which, with a little effort, seemed to have worked out okay. Assuming that the residential delivery fees can be worked-out in a win-win way, I'll continue to put loads on ABF."

"U-PACK was great, don't use their movers. They did exactly what they said they would and they did it on budget. I'm very happy. The movers they provided from moving staffers did a very poor job loading the truck however, and many of my items were damaged."

"Booked a couple of ReloCubes from UPACK for out upcoming move, and they are serviced by ABF Freight (at least in my area). UPACK's awesome instruction and contact sheets said "Call the origin service center to schedule a delivery appointment" for my reservation on 10/13, the day the cubes get dropped off at my current address, and provided the ABF phone number. No indication on when I should call, like x days before or anything like that. Since the 13th is next week, I called and asked about scheduling an appointment. The woman who answered was so rude. I didn't get to finish a single sentence after initially stating the reason for my call. I was told that they usually don't get schedule sheets for the next week until the Friday before. Cool, whatever, all I wanted to know was if I needed to call back on Friday to schedule one like the instructions say or if there was a different protocol. I never finished a question, she just steamrolled right over me every time I tried. Long story short I guess the driver or dispatch just calls at some point the day of and tells you when they'll be there, but it could be anytime between 9am and 5pm, no scheduling or appointments. Good thing I work from home... I would like to note, this is NOT a judgement on UPACK (they've been amazing every time I contact them), and is not a judgement of the actual freight transit for ABF, but their customer service chops are zero. I used to work in a call center, I know things are tough right now, but come on. You're so slammed you can't even let me finish a sentence? Not impressed."
