"I recently interviewed with Kennebec Savings and was offered a position with the bank. During the offer I was told that both a background and credit check would be completed. I explained to the HR representative that my credit had taken a hit over the last 18 months due to a recent separation. I was told that I would have the opportunity to explain what had happened, but when my credit check was returned I was told we can no longer offer you a position. My credit has been impeccable for over 20 years, but due to a recent separation I was no longer qualified for the position.
