"Do not do business with Jay. He took my deposit 2 months in advance of our trip date. When I called to confirm the details 4 days before we were slated to arrive, he told me that he could no longer help our group. Importantly, he did not tell me this information until I called him. He was not proactive. He kept my security deposit after promising to mail it back. He cashed my check. Jay is a thief. Stay away from this business."
"STAY AWAY! I had a trip planned down the Allagash River with multiple families and needed multiple canoes as well as taxi service for vehicles. I made plans 3 months in advance. Jay said he could accommodate all of our needs. I checked in 3 weeks before our vacation and everything was still a go. I called 4 days before we were departing and at that point he told me he couldn't do anything for us. Couldn't deliver our canoes or provide taxi service for our vehicles. Told me I would have to find someone else because he no longer had a vehicle. I asked him when he found out that he didn't have a vehicle to use, and he said earlier in the week. He never bothered to tell me. Had I not called we would have never known. He made no attempt to help me out and totally left us in the wind 4 days before our trip. After speaking with other locals and outfitters I came to find out that this guy has a bad reputation and I probably dodged a bullet."
"We had a 10 hour drive to Allagash and Jay was able to set us up with a cabin the night before our adventure. Canoe rental and canoe taxi to the drop off all went smoothly. We had a great trip thanks to Jay."
"Excellent service, laid back and easy, the Maine way. Jay met us in the wilderness, lent us two canoes, and shuttled our car to the end point. Trustworthy, reliable, and great value. Just leave a message on the answering machine and he'll call you back. We did the same trip years ago with his father, Wilmer, and Jay is now carrying the torch in the family business."
