Reviews
"I love Dr Katz! She is the best. She is so caring and kind and spends extra time with her patients. The nursing staff here are the best too."
"I had a very similar experience with Dr. Katz as the other review. She was beyond unprofessional, didn't want me involved in my treatment plan at all, was very ride if I tried to ask a question, and denied my requests to look into port issues I was having. Stating " you don't know what your talking about" Which ended up actually being infected because they contaminated my port before putting it in. The fact that she didn't respond at all to my multiple pleas to just check it out resulted in a terrible blood infection where I then went septic. I ended up in the ICU for almost a month. Also, as if it could get worse they gave me too much and the wrong kind of chemo and I again was very near death. So I also did the same as the other reviewer and switched to Dana Farber. The BEST thing I ever did. It's a night and day difference. And I absolutely believe it's what saved my life. I am now cancer free!!! I felt compelled to write a review because it was weighing on me that so many poor people already going through a horrific experience and they are dealing with that kind of stuff on top of it. So please go to a facility that will take amazing care of you, as you deserve. I wouldn't wish this place on anyone. And shame on her. For real."
"Upon getting diagnosed with cancer and interviewing multiple oncologists, Dr. Deborah Katz was by far the worst with zero patient care skills. During the interview it was stated that the appointment was an interview to discuss her thoughts and opinions on which course of action to take against my type of cancer and how she would accommodate the needs and wishes of the patient (me). We spoke of things I was already informed of regarding my cancer from my own team of doctors which included my PCP, cancer surgeon, rheumatologist, pulmonologist, neurologists, and many other reputable and well achieved specialists. According to Dr. Katz "they are all stupid and have no idea what they are talking about. What the F... planet are they and I from?" To further this horrible statement, she felt it was her responsibility and her speciality to reevaluate, retest, and rediagnose all ailments that I've ever been diagnosed with by any and all of my specialists. I simply replied that my team of doctors are some of the best in state, well or over qualified to test, diagnose, and treat my well documented precancerous and post cancerous ailments. There was no need, no desire, and especially no cause to waste time and money to come to the same conclusions, not to mention she was not licensed nor specialized in those fields to make any deturmination of what the results from her test would be. I told her that I am aware that I can do the treatment via IV, and that I am 100% against having any type of port installed. She said that would be fine, but i would at least need to meet with her associate in Springfield to see if a port was an option... I agreed to meet with her associate just to discuss and see if it would be possible as Dr Katz requested. (Remember this) I asked if it was possible to accommodate my A.D.H.D and allow me 15min breaks in between each bag of chemo. To allow me to gather my thoughts, refocus, walk off any energy and prepare for the next hour bag of sitting and doing nothing. Dr Katz recommended that I take a relaxant to ease my mind to get through all 6 hours of treatment in one sitting. I informed her that during my entire life with any ailments and most importantly while dealing with cancer, I have never and will never have my mind altered by allowing prescription drugs into my system. I am of sound body and mind and also more than capable of making my own health choices, I don't need big pharma messing with a perfectly good mind and attitude going into such a horrible treatment. She replied "moving on". (Remember this). She said she would need bloodwork done prior to chemo to determine my cell counts. I replied that I understand that should I decide to go with her as a doctor, that I would be in touch within a couple of days to determine the next step in the process. At this point I already knew I wasn't being heard at all. That I was dealing with someone so far out of touch with reality and so high on their own horse... insulting the patients intelligence, my families intelligence, and the intelligence of every doctor I had ever seen in my lifetime. I knew this was not the doctor for me, and it should really be questioned if she should be allowed to practice in such a field that allows her to manipulate scared patients into thinking that she's some sort of god, the only one that can cure them of all their ailments even beyond her professional scope of speciality. Upon walking out if her office into the hallway, Dr Katz calls out to my wife asking if she could speak to her for a moment. We pause, I shrug my shoulders to my wife and say to her "if you want to you can, just don't set anything up, I haven't hired her yet to be my doctor". I continue outside to the truck. Fourty-five minutes later my wife emerges with a stack of paperwork... a script of adavan, for bloodwork, for a surgical procedure to have the port installed, and several others for expensive tests for things that have nothing to do with cancer. I'm now at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, where they treat every patient as family!"
