Reviews
"Not what you read. We were referred to her and she was so understanding to our daughter, there was no judgment and no bias towards us. These reviews of others don’t reflect the person she is. Thank you for seeing our family for what we are"
"This review is way overdue. Went to her for coparent counseling. First one to see through the bull. When I say bull I mean, false accusations, flooding the court with motions to throw shade and cover up violations and a lot more. She put a stop to all that. I would go to her before lawyering up. Have no fear seeing her if you have nothing to hide. She says it like it is. Just referred a friend. Highly recommended."
"Awful family councillor - did not help but instead actively made things worse!! She made me feel extremely uncomfortable and made both me and my young brother cry many times. Whatever you do, DON'T go to Laura Ryan. She's terrifyingly awful at what she does and is a great waste of time."
"Run away!!! She failed my children. My kids & I expected their issues to be addressed. Instead, she dominates the session, often cancels at the last minute (literally, as I pulled into the parking lot, she called to cancel). Unprofessional doesn't begin to describe Laura's practices - my kids often left the session in tears. No compassion. No empathy. No help for my kids. My kids didn't need "confrontational therapy" - they needed compassion and understanding. Please heed the 1 star reviews. They all echo the same sentiment for a reason. RUN from this social worker!!!"
"When I read these reviews I was devastated. This has never been my experience with Laura at all. I’ve gone to her for myself, as well as for my child for years and then on and off. Her style might not be for everyone. I like the professional confrontation and cognitive challenging she uses to help clients see their problems through a different lens. I will also say, the majority of these reviews appear to be clients who have been mandated to see a clinician for an assessment or for ongoing counseling per court order, or by recommendation from a child welfare agency when a parent loses custody of their child, or perhaps when abuse or neglect are suspected. Of course these reviews are biased. How does one share an objective review about someone if they feel forced to attend? Those reviews automatically are negative no matter who the therapist is. I’d rather be questioned, processed, clinically critiqued, and then have it all handed back to me so I can look at who I am again. Therapy isn’t easy. If you’re looking for someone soft, gentle, and kind then that’s not therapy! What you’re looking for is a cup of coffee with a friend. Laura is insightful, thought-provoking, challenging, and empathic. These are the qualities of an exceptional therapist."
