"The eligibility and pairing process is so tedious, impersonal, and time consuming. The front desk is no help either. If you want a personalized experience, and don't want to find a therapist through a third party call center, seek somewhere else."
"Definitely had high expectations of the place as a Black trans person seeking services. I actually enjoyed who I was paired with, we met for 3 sessions. In that last session, I was told I was going to be provided some resources for testing (because we were discussing the possibility of being neurodivergent) - never received that. I emailed her to make an appointment the following week, and was essentially ghosted and never received a reply. I was already vulnerable about medical trauma/betrayal trauma with professionals in the past. Thankfully, I've come a long way and I'm able to detach from the situation and know that this just isn't the place to pursue my healing with. I'm not going to let it deter me from making the strides I've been making. But it was really disappointing-- and I'm a licensed therapist myself, so I just think that's really harmful if this is something that's common with clients. The lack of communication is a little concerning. Don't know if it was just this particular counselor within the agency, or if this speaks volumes for PRC as a whole: either way, use discernment. This was just my unfortunate experience. Edit 11/16/2023: Changing my review from 2 to 4 stars. Madrone, the owner, reached out to me quickly after this review and was really helpful in rectifying this situation. I take back my ambiguous statement around whether this situation was a reflection of the agency as a whole -- I feel more firm in that this was a counselor/situational-specific issue, and don't think it reflects the other counselors there, or the agency as a whole. Madrone has been really validating and made me feel seen/heard. I look forward to being transferred to a new therapist within this organization and would still recommend them to others."
"Ive heard of Phoenix Rising Centers through a friend and they have been nothing but accommodating and helpful in finding the correct therapist for me. My experience with Phoenix Rising Centers as been amazing. Would 100.1% recommend to anyone who is a POC or part of the LGBTQ community in need of a therapist :)"
"I was recommended Phoenix Rising Centers by a friend, and so glad I followed through and contacted them. They listened to my concerns about finding the right therapist and helped me find the right one. Feel so much better now I made the call."
"Phoenix Rising Center is a practice where every individual is treated with respect and dignity regardless of their situation. The staff is very polite and efficient. The therapists are very professional and very experienced. They make you feel valuable and important and treat you with individuality. The staff is diverse and you can find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and who you can trust."
