"I was advised by Dr. Edelman to get CoolSculpting, she said i was the "perfect candidate" for it, as I only needed to lose the menopause fat in my belly. I did the CoolSculpting in 2021. The office visit, performed by Erika (who is no longer there) was far from pleasant. They never told me to bring any food or reading material etc as i was going to be there for 8 hours. The paddle goes on and freezes your area to a frostbite for 45m and then there is a massage right after the paddle is taken off which is extremely uncomfortable! (freezing cold skin meets room temperature) There was no compassion from this girl as to how uncomfortable I was and I was never made aware of any of this. She put the paddle on and left, that was it. 3 months later i was diagnosed with PAH (paradoxical adipose hyperplasia), a very serious side effect that will take several liposuctions to remove. I am currently scheduling for a 3rd one now! The consent form says "a small number of patients have experienced a gradual development of a firmer enlargement and will probably not resolve on its own and the lump can be removed by surgery". This is NOT a 'lump' or a 'probably', and its millions of patients who are experiencing this side effect and 95% of them need multiple surgeries to get this obesity removed. Its the entire treated area that grows to a very large abnormal size and will not ever go away on its own. The CoolSculpting company pays for the surgery up to a certain amount only. I have lost days of work, travel time, emotional stress and physical stress on my body from pain and scar tissue. Dr Edelman is aware of all of this and I have asked for a refund for my $4000 that I paid for the CS to compensate me for this horrendous journey. She didn't call me back after several attempts to reach her and when i finally got her on the phone, she said there are policies with the company and I cannot refund your money and I will check again and rushed me off the phone. Very cold and callous! Not a care as to what i was going through and I trusted her! This is NOT true. I know CS offices that have refunded their patients who had PAH, Sono Bello being one of them. The CS company pays only a limited amount for the corrective surgery and has nothing to do with the money Dr Edelman takes from the patient. I am so very disappointed in Dr Edelman, i believed her to be a more compassionate person. Please people, do your research before getting CoolSculpting- it is a journey you dont ever want to face!!! I will be getting another surgery with more time off of work, needing someone to help me, and dealing with the pain once again. Her lack of empathy has disappointed me like no other."
