Reviews of My Pretty Garden Family Child Care
"Can’t say enough good things about Maribel and this daycare. My 2-year-old has been attending My Pretty Garden Family Childcare for almost a year now, and she loves it! Maribel provides amazing curriculum and treats my daughter like one of her own. Communication is constant, and I have zero complaints. Highly recommend."
"Summary: A good daycare for toddlers, but not for infants. Maribel works by herself, so if your baby cries too much or cannot stick strictly to her schedule, she will terminate care. Details: We sent our infant to Maribel’s daycare from August 2022 to November 2022 at which point we were given one week's notice that she would be stopping care for him. There were many things we liked at Maribel’s daycare, but in the interest of transparency, I felt I should share an honest, balanced review. We liked that she did a lot of activities with the kids, spoke Spanish to them, had a variety of toys that we don’t have at home, and took all of them outside every day she could, weather permitting. She is very conscientious about Covid safety and having kids stay at home when sick so as not to spread illness. It’s also nice that she posts pictures and videos for parents to see daily. Our son E had to leave because of a supposed napping issue. She has the children on the same schedule where they all sleep from 2-4pm in the same main play area. E most of the time didn’t sleep that long and would sometimes wake up at 3, 3:15 or 3:30. I know because she would text me at work saying he’s awake and crying. Often Maribel said he would wake up being loud and wanting to play, or screaming, which would then wake up everybody else who then couldn’t get their full nap in (for what it’s worth, I know another infant mom who also got mid-day texts about her child’s screaming, and she went to go pick him up early on at least one occasion). I understand that E’s waking up early and loud presents a difficult situation, and I feel bad that other kids’ naps were interrupted because everyone needs their rest. But I’m puzzled because E doesn’t wake up like this at home. We have had occasional other sitters come to watch E when Maribel’s daycare was closed, and none of them had a problem with E’s napping. And now we’re left scrambling. I wish I had known before starting with Maribel that fitting so rigidly into her schedule was a requirement and that E could get terminated if he didn’t. She was very communicative with us from early on about when E was waking up in the middle of nap time and on both ends we tried to get him to sleep consistently from 2-4pm, but he didn’t always do it. So now as I consider future home daycares, I am prioritizing ones where there is a certified assistant to help and at least two separate rooms for children to be in (in contrast to Maribel’s which is an open living-dining room space where she works alone) so children who wake at different times can be taken out of the sleeping area. Fortunately these setups do exist. Again, there were many things we liked about Maribel’s daycare, and in fact we recommended her to our friend who started her two-year-old there recently. Maribel has been in the child care field for over 20 years, and I think she is great for toddlers. If your child can stay quiet reliably from 2-4pm, I would recommend Maribel. But if for some reason she has difficulty keeping your child asleep or quiet from 2-4pm, then your child may fail out."
"My Pretty Garden Family Childcare is a very special place! Maribel cares for the children with so much warm attention. Every day she gets them outside for fresh air, has bilingual circle time, and creates content that helps the little ones grow emotionally and intellectually through play. If I have anyone I would want my children to be with during the day, it is Maribel in her amazing, caring program!"
"We were worried about sending our 8 month old to daycare, especially during a pandemic, but when we found My Pretty Garden Family Child Care, we were immediately reassured by Maribel's kindness, compassion, child development expertise, and her dedication to health and safety. Since starting at My Pretty Garden in February 2021, our daughter has thrived under Maribel's care. She learns so much during her time with Maribel and we really appreciate all of the developmentally appropriate learning and playing that Maribel incorporates into the daily routine. Our daughter, now a toddler, is so happy to see Maribel and play with her friends every day. To watch how much our daughter has grown socially and developmentally under Maribel's care is truly a gift."
"Maribel's daycare is a home away from home. My daughter transitioned from her previous daycare to Maribel's daycare this winter and so far its been a smooth transition. She is so patient, understanding, so willing to work with you and the kids to help them in any way. I really like the fact that she updates us with a message or two during the day about how your kid is doing.. It helped me with my anxiety of introducing my daughter to a new place. Her home is a clean environment, we are very happy with all the care that she taking around covid and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for safe, educational and nurturing daycare for their kids."
