"One of the receptionists were extremely rude and tried to play the blame game with me over whose fault it was that they didn't get my records. I tried getting it to them multiple times via fax and mail. So today, i just walked in with them after it taking nearly 2 months and them not receiving my medical records. My last obgyn complied and sent it 6 or 7 times before I finally just asked them to send it to me directly. If I were able to find anyone else, I would go elsewhere, but I'm due in December. Unfortunately they won't be able to get me in until the last week of October. That'll be 4 months without OB care and there's nothing I can do about it because no where else is accepting new patients until December."
"I saw Janelle today and all throughout my pregnancy for ultrasounds. She is absolutely amazing! So kind and comforting! AFA is so lucky to have such an amazing sonographer!"
"Update: they have changed their ways and are supporting couples again! Leaving original review below but changed stars from 1 to 4 because the medical staff really are supportive. We were originally drawn to AFA due to the mix of practitioners and their collaborative approach with MDs, nurse practitioners, and midwives all working together. The medicine seems fine, but their mentality toward partners has tainted the experience. We expected an inclusive experience but the AFA office staff goes out of their way to make partners feel uncomfortable and like second class citizens. Their policies intentionally separate couples and banish partners from the office with no seating or accommodations. Essentially they say “go stand in the hall”. They won’t even come get you when your partner is called - your partner has to walk out of the office to get you themselves. It would be understandable, even desirable, if they had limited seating or were attempting to enforce social distancing. Set a capacity cap and ask people to limit one per party when it’s exceeded. Unfortunately this is not the case. With a completely empty waiting room they will break up couples just because they can. It’s insulting, disruptive, distracting, arbitrary, and completely unjustifiable. If you’re looking for a practice that values both parents cooperating and supporting each other, this isn’t it. Their office staff and policies treat the non-birthing partner as a second class citizen. We expected more from what appeared to be a progressive practice."
"Went in for my first appointment today and had an excellent experience. My previous pregnancy ended in miscarriage and the OB I went to made me feel brushed off. They would not see me until I was 12 weeks and did not intend to get me in for an ultrasound until 20 weeks. I called AFA this time around and what a difference. They got me right in for a dating scan and to meet with the nurse. The nurse was outstanding! She understood that I was nervous after my previous miscarriage and set up another ultrasound in two weeks to make sure everything is still OK and give me piece of mind. I was so appreciative of how understanding and attentive they were. I am glad I made the switch and I'm confident things will go a lot smoother this time around."
"I cannot say enough good things about this practice. I had a very rare kind of miscarriage with my first pregnancy and they guided me through the process with kindness and compassion. They were quick to get me in for an early ultrasound for the following pregnancy and took excellent care of me throughout, with lots of patience for my extra-anxious mind. I wound up needing a c-section and they were wonderful about this as well. With my third pregnancy, I very much wanted to try for a vaginal delivery and the midwives and doctors were not only supportive of this, but actively encouraged me and helped me to achieve this goal. I had some bleeding about 8 weeks after I delivered which required a D&C and again, they were wonderful. I am a nurse practitioner in OBGYN so I know this field well, and I absolutely adore this practice! Some people don't like that they have you meet different providers throughout your pregnancy, but given that there is no way to predict who will be on labor and delivery when you go into labor, I appreciated the opportunity to meet them all and share with them my preferences for labor. It made the whole experience much more comfortable. Really, truly, this place is such a warm, welcoming practice!"
