"This place should be much more appreciated. I went there because of a problem with an unexplained depression, and because of near unavailability of any more immediate health care (Currently in MA you may wait several months for a simple doctors appointment - makes you wonder where that post-pandemic extra mortality comes from?). I didn't even try to call them ahead of time (I just can't stand that inevitable half an hour elevator music waiting time). I simply walked in spontaneously after a few days of deliberation. I'm glad I did this because I got some really good advice and I felt very welcome. Knowing this place exists alone gives a bit bit of hope if you're in trouble. Think of it as the place of last resort. And it's not provided by the self indulging Commonwealth of MA, instead it's a non-profit without public funding. The State of MA and the existing welfare system and healthcare system is so understaffed with actual people who can help; instead it's totally bureaucratized and ineffective. So it's a real God sake that places like CSO exist: I was greeted with friendly words, got some water and then had to wait a little. It seemed there wasn't a single bureaucrat present, just a bunch of friendly people. At least initially all they ask for is your name, details are for later. I had a long conversation with one of their staff (I suppose she is a psychologist), and it was very helpful - I left feeling a lot better. This is how people should be treated if they are in some kind of crisis. My thanks to the CSO people."
"If I could leave zero better yet negative stars, I would. if you want to get yelled at and treated like a piece of trash, this is the place for you. the people they have answering phones are not educated in the mental health sector and extremely disrespectful and somewhat aggressive. This is the MOST harmful place for someone who needs help. they have been awful. please, I warn you, DO NOT CALL HERE"
"Sorry I have to change my review from All Stars down to one star I called crisis this morning and asked to speak to somebody and was left on hold for 20 minutes that's not very professional when people are in crisis they need to talk not be left to elevator music for 20 minutes and that's not an exaggeration that's what my phone time actually said I was on hold for 20 minutes of which then I just hung up the phone cuz clearly they don't want to talk"
"I came to CSO having just moved to town with no healthcare team in place yet, and I had a mental health emergency. They were so helpful and kind and provided an intake with someone the same day, an emergency psychiatrist who could prescribe what I needed short term, and referred me to resources for longterm care. Thank you CSO!"
