Reviews
"Very Maine. What more can I say? The owners are a treasure."
"We've been doing business with Medomak Trading Post for over 15 years and have purchased a few guns from them, most recently a .270 rifle. They have a variety of guns to choose from, along with a lot of other trinkets in their store. It's fun to browse around to see everything that they have. One thing I like about this place is they will physically sight your gun in right there on the premises for a small fee. They have a small building they shoot from towards targets out in their field. We don't live in their area anymore but we still drive the distance to shop there."
"I'm so very sorry to leave this review. I thought it may be the only poor one but looking through others, I see a pattern, mostly involving the woman, his wife. I stopped into the store about a year ago while driving back from Augusta. I had been thinking about personal protection and I'd heard many positive things about this store. Mark was absolutely wonderful to do business with, but sadly it didn't turn out as business at all. I remembered him from the Rockland area. He and his family are highly respected. He remembered my family from the area also, as my father was a small business owner. He asked for my ID and I showed it to him. So far, so good. I told him what I was looking for- something small, light and easy to use, probably just to be kept at home. I planned to take the appropriate classes for self defense as well and follow the laws. As the proverbial old maid school teacher, I didn't foresee any problem with the background check. I had one for teaching as well as having fingerprints done. No trouble. No arrests. He answered all of my questions with professionalism and courtesy. I not only felt comfortable with him but safe in knowing that he was truly helping me find the right gun to suit my needs. Then the wife walked in. She told me to go to Fox Firearms to buy my gun. Mark looked very confused and a little disappointed. After all, cash sale with additional items probably totaling around $1K. Now a lost sale. I was taught that as a teacher, paid by taxpayer dollars, I should shop with locals and put food back on their tables. That's why I didn't go to a large store and went to a local from my hometown. But it didn't work out. After she told me to go to Fox and he didn't respond to her, I turned and walked out. Nothing more to discuss. Some reviews say she lied to people and rung up extra charges. I can't claim that but after her behavior and attitude I tend to think every word of it is the truth. I have no idea why she wanted me to go elsewhere and I don't care. I was quiet and respectful and even left without saying one word to either of them. I will not return. Mark is such a nice man, an honest man and very experienced seller. He knew exactly what he was talking about and I felt safe buying from him. I don't understand why she treated me with such disdain but every word of this is the truth. I believe you can trust Mark. He knows his stuff and won't steer you wrong. His prices were fair as well. If she hadn't been there, he would have had a smooth transaction and I would have had the protection I needed. I would have been a repeat customer and told friends and acquaintances to shop there, too. My best advice is to still give Mark a chance, but call first and make sure he's the only one there working. He shouldn't continue to lose sales and get bad reviews if it's not his fault. Thanks for reading."
"My family LOVES this place! We shop here every year for Christmas gifts and anything else we need the rest of the year. The couple who owns it are incredibly helpful and take the time to answer EVERY question we ask in great detail. They show you how to use something properly and safely. They are awesome at recommending things that are age appropriate for kids of all ages. We will always support and recommend this small business!"
"I stopped in here the other day, and found a small but well stocked hunting goods store staffed by an extremely helpful and friendly couple. I will definitely be going back to make purchases soon. What a great find!"
