"SCAM COMPANY. My coworker used to work for them and warned me not to after I interviewed for a financial advisor position (though I was discriminated against in the interview anyways by James Buckley so I didn't get it regardless) said they'd con people out of their money and he quit because of the guilt he felt for the customers despite getting a large income."

"My wife and I have had a policy with New York life for about three years now and our representative William Medlin reached out to us to see if we wanted any other policies added. We scheduled the zoom call for a month out due to busy schedules. Two days before our scheduled meeting I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called myxoid liposarcoma. During the call we let William know that I had been diagnosed and he immediately replied back that there was nothing he could do to help us now and that no other company would ever touch us with a diagnosis like that. Hearing this just one day after my diagnosis was such a jarringly rude introduction to how William works. We never expected to get some great policy with this diagnosis but he was unprofessional in communicating such an obvious fact and almost laughed at the situation. William had reached out to us to try to get more commission by getting another sale and then was so rude about the fact that we now couldn’t be helped. When I hung up from the zoom call, both my wife and I broke down crying because we felt so hurt by this interaction and the way he treated us. A few days later I sent him and the gentleman he is working with an email saying that I no longer wanted to work with William and that I need an apology for the way we were treated. His coworker responded back stating that he was extremely sorry for the way the conversation had gone and that someone would reach out to us. Two months and three other emails asking for an apology later, no one has reached out yet. I would not recommend New York Life to anyone and I would caution everyone that William Merlin treats his clients like a transaction and it shows in his bedside manners."
