Salem Hospital Emergency Department

"A joke of a hospital. What is the point of calling it emergency room if they operate like a made up hospital. Unorganized and could careless. Waited 7.5 hrs! for a doctor to just say “ you are fine”. If that was the evaluation I guess google could have told me that."

"This ER needs to be investigated. Criminal negligence is the norm at this place. Lack of care at the most inhumane way while showing inadequate clinical procedures. Mental illness is out the window in this ER, they do not account for patient wellness of their patients. Meanwhile charging an arm and a leg to just sit in their waiting room. Criminal."

"This ER needs to investigated ASAP ! My wife was referred by urgent care. She arrived in acute distress BP sky high due to pain. She was seen in triage , barley could form a single sentence , triage nurse was TOLD she had heavy bleeding and was loosing an abnormal amount of blood ! She was put in a wheelchair infront of the bathrooms out of sight. While running to get her a change of clothes took only 3 mins. I arrived back to find my wife UNCONSCIOUS!!! I was told by other patients and security my wife screamed for help a nurse came he said he would be right back never came back !!!!! My wife’s hands turned bluish purple due to blood loss she had urinated all over herself. After screaming at security and nurses while my wife bled out in the bathroom they finally brought her back only to have the doctor say and I quote “ why was this women not brought IMMEDIATELY BACK HER !” She has lost an immense amount of blood and is nearly septic. My wife needed a blood transfusion she suffered a severe kidney infection amoung something else extremely personal !!!!!! MY WIFE ALMOST DIED IN THE WAITING ROOM ! DO NOT GO HERE !!!!!"

"My problem was with the doctor. I was referred here by an urgent care due to hives not going away/spreading even with steroids and 2 antihistamines. Front desk staff where very nice actually as was the nurse checking my vitals. My BP was 156/102 and my hr was hitting the 150's. I was feeling OK, just like my chest was pounding. Which I told the nurse. I wasn't asking to be seen sooner or even too worried. The doctor in the back seemed very unconcerned compared to his front desk staff who pushed for me to get seen sooner because of my HR and BP. He didn't even really mention the elevated BP and HR I had to ask. I found out that the BP and HR are normal on the steroids, which is fine. Admittedly I am grumpy and also having to take lots of benadryl, which doesn't make for the best time anyway. But I do wish I had felt a little more concern and not the doctor acting like it was confusing I was even there. I wasn't the one who decided I needed the ER. I was told to go by the doctor who gave me the meds for the reaction originally"

"I went in at 10:30 pm and waited on a half sized cot till 1:30 pm the next day. I was only seen for a minute by a doctor. There was a bottle of someone’s urine in my room. It is filthy. A nurse also made a comment how it must be nice to have some away time from my baby. I was there for a suspected blood clot post partum. The most inhumane experience I have ever had. I didn’t know it was legal to hear other patient’s personal and medical information with a filthy curtain as the only thing giving us privacy. I didn’t wait for my Discharge paperwork. I just wanted to get out"
