"We had a horrible experience with this company. We rented a home last year that upon opening the door we were greeted with a musty smell that resembled mold. It was unfavorable to say the least. From there, there wasn’t a comfortable bed in the home. Also, there was not a grill as listed which isn’t satisfactory for a beach home rental. The kitchen was a mess and clearly a family home; I cleaned before we unpacked. There were also not enough linens provided, which the neighbor was nice enough to supply while shaking her head at the family renting the property in such condition. A management company should absolutely not allow this. It’s their job to make sure everything is clean and tidy. They didn’t allow pets which is absolutely fine so we boarded our dog locally but did get her every morning to take her for a walk on the beach. There is no issue at all with that in my eyes. Tamarack did call to confirm we didn’t have a dog there to which I gave them the boarding location and name of our dog so they could confirm our reservation. I absolutely did bring the dog to see my children but never once did she enter the home. We decided not to stay an additional week that we had planned because the house was not up to rentable standards for a family to sit back and enjoy."

"I would recommend Tamarack if it wasn't for their electrical policy. "ELECTRICITY INCLUDED" for properties are all in capital letters, but the fine print (if it is even printed anywhere) is if you use "above average" electrical use (which could be anything from using A/C units, oxygen tanks or topping off an electric car), they ask for a $100 cash upfront fee. Even offering to pay for whatever extra electrical costs are expected (a measly $10), they insist the full $100 is required. Quite unreasonable and hope they have a change of heart here."

"My family has been renting from Tamarack Realty for about 10 years now give or take. This year we specifically asked for a house with very few stairs, and a master bedroom and bathroom on the first floor. We asked for this because my grandparents are 72 and 77. My grandmother has mobility issues and cannot easily manage lots of stairs. Carol put us in a new house this year under the pretense that it met the requirements our family needed. The house had several stair cases and no master bedroom or barhroom on the main floor. In addition to that, we had a shared driveway with 3 other houses even though we have a large family with several cars (mostly SUVs). This caused an issue when roofers came to do construction next door the first day of our vacation. The roofers and the neighbor's grandson were upset the one ton work truck couldn't immediately scoot by. We called the realtor to see what our potential recourse was. We really didn't want to listen to contruction and construction workers all week. The realtor's husband came by and we expalined what was going on. He response was to say, "well what do you expect? They're Mainers". ...we are also from Maine. My entire family. We were blown away by their lack of professionalism. For a realtor who has know our family for 10 years to be so careless in house choice and then so plainly insulting... wow. Fyi.. people from Maine have Google, too. That's the last 4 figure check from us. Best of luck!!"
