Reviews of Birchwood Inn Restaurant and Tavern
"Such a great Sunday brunch! Glad we found it. Very aware of gluten and other allergies. We got to meet Amy and Matthew and learned about the history of the inn and the Rufus Porter mural. ‘Definitely coming back for dinner and bringing friends.!"
"I almost never write a negative review, however, this was so bad that I felt compelled to share my experience. The birchwood Inn is a lovely Inn with a charming atmosphere and superb service. The bloody mary drink was exceptional. And that's where the goodness stops. It can lure you in, but our dinner was about the worst I can remember in recent times. The roasted chicken which is on their menu, was so very salty, that we got sick even trying it. We boxed it to take it home, and thought we could doctor it up a bit. We tried and then it went straight to the garbage. I have never done that before. Can you imagine spending about $150 for two people and sending your meal into the garbage ? The other dish was the fried fish platter with soggy onion rings. The breaded coating on the fish tasted like cardboard, so I peeled it off and found the fish overcooked. I am sorry to share this review. The people there are so nice, but they need to know our experience. Awful dishes were served to us. What a shame."
"What a place. Big surprise to find a place with a great history since 1778. There are rooms to stay, excellent kitchen, & a very rare story with gorgeous hostesses We enjoyed every minute and we are waiting to return"
"I am only writing about the restaurant - My husband and I were pleased and impressed with the ambience, the food and the service, and will definitely be back. The waitress, Christina, was working alone and was heroic in her ability to keep up with everybody!"
"I'm excited to share what a beautiful wonderful experience I had at the Birchwood Inn and Tavern. Upon arriving you are greeted with the most inviting and charming atmosphere. The flowers, front porch and a row of rocking chairs welcomed you to sit and enjoy the view. The staff is super friendly extremely helpful and wonderful to talk with. We stayed in the Cambridge room. Our room was decorated with such detail and attention. I loved all of the pictures that showed the history of the Inn. Your room comes with a lovely welcome basket from coffees, teas, milks creamers and a thoughtful amount of snacks. My favorite was the fresh homemade mini loaf of bread. Delicious. Our room was spacious and clean and perfect for two people. The Inn provides you with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The Tavern just down the stairs was a added bonus for us. The dinners we had were beyond our expectations. Absolutely delicious. Our Sunday brunch which came with our room was amazing. The Cheff is a gem.The owners Amy and Matt really know how to make you feel welcomed and want to come back. Their hospitality shined through from the minute we arrived to the moment we left. We will be coming back. I thank you!!"
