"I was trying to inquire about a new patient appointment, and I was put on hold for 30 minutes. At the end of 30 minutes, they ended the call on me without even picking back up. Had to recall and join the line again just to get the same treatment."

"I was a loyal patient/customer at Kendall Dental for over 20 years, but then had a horrible experience, and learned the hard way that they do NOT help patients with insurance.  Right before the pandemic (December), I got scheduled for a significant procedure that was supposed to be covered by insurance, but a month later, I was surprised with a bill for $1600! It turns out that I had exceeded my covereage for the year, and if Kendall Square Dental had just gotten an insurance quote and scheduled this procedure just TWO WEEKS later, my insurance coverage would have renewed after January 1st, and everything would have been completely paid.  After this happened, I immediately paid $600, which is all I could afford at the time, and then I tried reaching out to the owner, Dr. Alex Callejas, who has the power to make adjustments to the bill. Unfortunately, all business operations are controlled by Amy, who is Dr. Callejas' partner and aggressively manages the front desk and billing. Even after being their patient for 20 years, Amy refused to let me talk to the owner and was surprisingly condescending and unapologetic. Her exact response was, "We sometimes do insurance estimates for patients, but they are purely done as a COURTESY for patients.  It is the patient's responsibility to check with their insurance to verify coverage."  Although I tried for many months, Kendall Square Dental refused to acknowledge any responsibility for this mistake, refused to intercede with the insurance on my behalf, and refused to give me any discount/adjustment whatsovever on the bill. Amy sent my bill to a collections agency, and I am now living with that large hit on my credit score.  I want to report that in the past couple years, I have discovered several great convenient dentists in the (Davis Sq and Porter Sq area) and also discovered that ALL these dentists do ROUTINE insurance quotes (without asking) for ALL patients. To avoid painful surprises, ALL dentists tell me exactly what my cost is going to be BEFORE the procedure is done.  All other dentists also offer advice on how to plan my dental procedures to get the most out of my insurance coverage. I am leaving this review to let other people know what to expect from a GOOD dentist, and let people know that there are many much better dental clinics in the Cambridge/Somerville (Davis/Porter) area who all offer comprehensive support for insurance, have better record-keeping, and treat patients with empathy and respect. I have nothing against the doctors who work there, but Kendall Dental is gaslighting its patients into thinking that its service is state-of-the-art. Dont fall for it. If you dont believe this review, please read the other negative reviews and also try other dentists, and see for yourself."

"Kendall Square Dental really takes care of your dental needs. My dentist is retiring. Nearly all of my Doctors have recently retired. Unlike other places, Kendall Dental set me up with a new dentist before my regular dentist retired. I met my new dentist. She is really on top of everything. She cleaned my teeth and they are cleaner than they have ever been with less pain (new technology). Plus the staff is awesome (A shout out to Amy, who will tell you exactly how to deal with your insurance)."

Dr. Callejas spent so much time walking me through my x-rays and discussing potential fixes for a couple issues I asked him about. He also performed an incredibly thorough cleaning and was so kind.
