"Today I needed 2 things. A new battery for my car remote and a new wiper. The clerk was slammed and remained calm and was still super helpful. She even cut open the battery case and help me get my battery installed. So my car would stop beeping. Thank you advanced auto for great experience."
"Went to drop off waste oil. Counter person said their receptacle was broken. After a little back and forth I said “you are legally obligated to take waste oil:”. The counter person said, “ no, we are not legally obligated to take waste oil”. They are incorrect. From NY DEC website: “ New York State law requires numerous service and retail locations to accept used oil from household DIYs (who is otherwise exempt from regulation) for recycling. Under Article 23, Title 23 of the Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) (link leaves DEC's website), any service establishment that sells at least 500 gallons per year of new oil and performs vehicle servicing must accept from the public, at no charge, up to 5 gallons of used oil per person per day. Retailers who don't service vehicles but sell at least 1,000 gallons per year of new oil must either accept used oil from the public, as service establishments do, or contract to have another service or retail establishment accept it on their behalf. Some municipalities in New York State also collect DIY used oil as part of their Household Hazardous Waste Program.” You work in an auto parts place, you should know the laws. I’m tired of incompetence, especially when it inconveniences me. And if in fact the receptacle was broken (was it really?), they should have proposed making arrangements for me drop off oil as outlined on the NY DEC website here: “While service and retail establishments may temporarily refuse to accept used oil if their used oil tanks are temporarily full, they must make arrangements to have their tanks emptied and inform the household DIY when they can come back to drop off their used oil.“ I went down the road to Autozone, where the man accepted my oil, understood the law when I asked him about and was generally very pleasant. So Advanced Auto Parts just lost a customer and Autozone just gained a customer."
"Excellent experience today. Rocky was friendly and knowledgeable! He installed the battery I had purchased online yesterday, while I waited. He did the install in 5 minutes in the parking lot while I waited. Couldn't have been happier! Thank you :-)"
