Reviews
"Interesting that my first review addressing the people that didn’t have the courtesy to keep their dogs in their own campsite was deleted. The location is perfect. Close to Kennebunk and a beautiful beach. Well maintained. WiFi was nonexistent which was a bit of a nuisance. Our biggest complaint was the group that was across from us that let their dogs roam and were constantly yelling their names very loud as they wandered off. Not very relaxing or peaceful."
"My husband and I recently spent a long weekend with two other couples in the adults only glamping tent section. The tents were adorable, amenities clean and sites nicely set up. The first two nights were perfect. It was the weekend so the campground was filled with people, activities and noise. All of which is to be expected at a campground. People who are looking for seclusion and absolute quiet shouldn’t be camping in a resort style campground. (Like Sandy Pines) The third night, Sunday is when we had an issue. We’re seasoned campers with realistic expectations. We’re mindful of quiet hours and campground rules. With that being said after being out all day exploring we all sat down to chat around campfire. Six adults talking, no alcohol or music playing just discussing the drive home early the next morning. At 9pm the campground manger/ranger drove up to our site and said there had been a noise complaint. After questioning the time, it was 9:05 the ranger said we still had another hour before quiet time but noise travels? We were so surprised someone in the group suggested maybe he had the wrong site. The Rangers friendly attitude immediately changed. He was rude. We wrapped up our trip and decided this isn’t a place we will be visiting again. It’s unfortunate that our trip ended on a sour note and ruined the overall experience."
"My husband and I had such a fun stay at Sandy Pines! Normally we love to camp, but it was our baby-moon, so we stayed in one of the Birch Grove Couples Cottages and the king bed was so comfortable. Honestly we both slept great all three nights. The bath houses are individual toilet/shower combos that were kept very clean. Great breakfast sandwiches at the general store on the weekend, and we even enjoyed the pool one morning. Sandy Pines was our home base to explore Kennebunkport (less than 15 min drive) and Portland (40 min drive). It was Labor Day weekend, so the campground was busy but everyone was really nice, friendly and observed quiet hours. Not the place for you if you want seclusion…it is a campground after all, and we are used to that atmosphere. Would definitely come back with one more in tow next time!"
"This is not the place to stay if you're looking for a relaxing retreat!!! Stayed in one of their "adults only" cabins which in and of itself was nice and pleasant. They advertise it as a quiet serene retreat. Turns out - it's really NOT. Your direct neighbors are not screaming children, but there are screaming children all day and night from about 8 AM to 8 PM all around you staying at the tent/RV sites. As in, yelling, shrieking, crying, and sometimes literally screaming children. There were staff around, but they seemed to regard that all as normal. In addition to that, there was some kind of mower going for hours during the day Saturday when I was there, plus the staff is often driving around in some kind of slow-moving vehicle that makes a lot of noise. Needless to say, it was not actually that relaxing. I can't imagine coming here as a couple looking for some alone time, what a horrible experience that would be. I'll also mention the adults-only sections were not segregated in terms of bathrooms at all and those were pretty dire. They did clean the bathrooms daily, but they'd pretty quickly get a ton of mud on the floor and tended to be stuffy and smell bad. At least the accessible restrooms tended to have the doors left open so they didn't smell as bad. In and of itself the place is pretty nice but unfortunately, you're staying in a place surrounded by other cheaper tent sites where people and their large hordes of 5-12 year olds are staying, so it's really not relaxing at all. I was very glad to leave when I did. Maybe off-season it would be better but as it is I can't recommend it for anyone who doesn't themselves have a small and loud child."
"This is a fantastic campground! Clean bathrooms, ample room at sites with even gravel. My kids absolutely adored all the playgrounds that were all well maintained. The laundry was spacious as well as clean and took quarters which was convenient. I’d highly recommend this campground for anyone visiting Kennebunkport, the location to the beach and nearby attractions cannot be beat!"
