Yankee Clipper Motor Inn

"My kids said one star. My husband said 2-3 stars. I am giving it 3 stars. So average of 2 stars. See reasons below. My kids gave one star because of first impressions. We originally did not book this motel but 20 mins away but was told one day before we arrived the other location had flood and they had to move everyone here. We arrived on Christmas Eve around 630pm. We drove in not knowing if we are at the right location as there was 0 light in the parking lot or for the motel sign. We drove around not knowing where the lobby was to check in. We passed the lobby not knowing it was the entrance because there was no light and got to the restaurant next door. We drove to the back and saw two other cars in the back parking lot but the entrance in the back where there was the only light was locked. I saw two phone numbers on the glass door and called them but no one answered. We drove back to the front and finally saw the front door and then saw an envelope taped to the door with my name on it. I opened it and there was a letter and two keys. We brought food to heat up as the lady who called me the day prior confirmed there was a microwave. Got to the room and there was no microwave. Good thing I had the lady's phone number so I called her and she said it must be because it's newly renovated. She asked if I can wait til tmrw and I said then I have no food to eat for the night. She was able to get a guy to bring it over shortly so I was grateful for that. But this weird arrival gave my kids and my husband a negative impression of the place already. The hot water situation in the shower also was another reason why the rating was low. My younger son turned on the water and for a few seconds there was hot water. However the water turned cold even before he was able to put on shampoo. And he was standing there being cold waiting for the hot water. After a min or so that's when the hot water came back in, though it slowly cools down as you take the shower. Because of this, we only took 2 showers during our 5 night stay! Another reason why my husband is giving it low rating was because the TV was missing a remote and we were stuck watching just one channel with some weird overlay on the screen for 3 days before we were able to ask for help to get the correct remote. The letter that we got on day 1 saying there is no room service on Tues and Wed. Being Mon was Christmas we didn't expect anyone to come in on Mon, Tues or Wed. I left an envelope by the door to track if anyone came in and on Christmas day my envelope was moved so I know someone came in, but there was no cleaning etc. Someone just came in to take a peek I assumed. On Tues after skiing we came back to the room with made beds and new towels. However, our two Tupperwares that we planned to wash after we came back were gone. We left them at the sink and I guess the cleaning lady thought those were trash. We were using them to reheat our food in the microwave so my husband was not happy they threw them out. The room was small also, the coat rack is right over the table so half the table was not usable. Quite weird layout. Good thing we brought a table so we were able to use ours to eat/play cards. I am giving it somewhat higher rating because I had several interactions with the ladies in the lobby saying good morning etc. Even though I do agree with why my family is giving this place a low rating, especially the arrival experience. There was no hair dryer, so good thing I was prepared with my own. Also I had to wipe down the table several times being so dirty (see photo) when I first got there. It was also very dark in the room being there was only one lamp in the room. (See photo) Just don't set your expectations high as this is a 2 star motel. My rating for the other motel that we were moved from I gave it one star (because I was lied to that they had to move EVERYONE out of that motel into this one but that was not true!) We had to drive an additional 40 mins each day (20 mins each way) to our skiing mountain because of the move!"

"Booked on orbitz. Picture was literally of their hot tub, but no indication it was closed. Arrived at a reasonable time (5PM) nobody was there, front desk locked & Empty. My key card was taped in an envelope on the front door which is sketchy anyone could have taken a key and entered my room before I got there. pool/ hot tub closed (only reason I booked) and they will not give a refund. I did not stay here that night due to both of these factors."

"Great stay and staff. We were fortunate to get one of the newly renovated rooms (very nice as you can see on my attached pictures). They still have work to be done around the place, but its a working process and once all is completed, I imagine this place will become a favorite amongst fellow travelers. Will stay here again on the next trip."

"I understand undergoing renovations…that does not mean the rooms shouldn’t be clean! We were on the second floor out back. The stairs were rickety, the place looked SO run down! I didn’t want to stay but it was late, we were exhausted and there were no other vacancies anywhere. We were told not be be alarmed by the brown sink in the lobby, it’s just coffee stains. They do offer coffee service but the coffee shouldn’t be dumped or airpots rinsed IN THE BATHROOM! It’s too bad because it could be a cute place in a nice location but it is just too run down and not clean. I will not stay here again!"

"The place looks like a wreck!! It's under"renovation" but they are trying to rent rooms in the back and upstairs. So you have to walk and navigate all the workmen and supplies. Fortunately the lady at the desk was able to refund our payment to her credit. But it was a terrible shock driving up. None of the booking sites said anything about the construction. All had beautiful photos of a hotel that no longer exists. Apparently it has been in shoddy disrepair for several years."
