Gateway Inn

"Great place! It is near to I95, so pretty on the way going South (or North). It's also right before the Kathadins.The rooms were clean, but could need some renovations. They also didn't have microwaves or a fridge, so you'll have to eat somewhere else. We ended up driving to Millinocket (ca 20 mi roundtrip) as there weren't a lot of options to eat there. In the mornig there was also breakfast, even though it was listed, that there wasn't one. A pretty pleasant surprise! Sure it's a basic breakie, but who cares if one thought that there wouldn't be any?"

"If you are looking for a clean, basic hotel before or after a Katahdin hike this place is great? No, there's not a continetal breakfast, and that was clear from the web site, yet coffee, juice and packaged pasties were available? Cost was great. Clean. ZERO complaints. Nice folks."

"When we got here, the first thing I noticed where the puzzles that where hung on the walls. When we walked in the room it looked like a regular hotel room. The bathroom ceiling is very light weight, so air comes through easily. The pillows are very worn down, but other than that the rooms are fine. The lobby is very decorated and fun, and the staff is very nice, but the breakfast is only toast, coffee, hot chocolate and various breakfast bars. If your looking for a cheap nice, stay, this is the right place to come to."
