Reviews
"Horton Center provided my child with the chance to experience God and community in a beautiful natural setting. Her first words to me at pickup were "Can I come back again?" I appreciated the way they proactively make sure all God's children are welcome."
"Our daughter LOVES Horton Center! Such a welcoming place, living the example of Jesus's extravagant welcome and unconditional love for EVERYONE, EVERYONE, EVERYONE. They do a great job at explicitly making queer folks welcome and honoring their names and pronouns. Our daughter can't wait to return in a few weeks."
"My 7 year old recently went to camp at Horton. Overall I think the team building exercises and the program was a good experience. However, the reason for this review is to make other parents aware of the indoctrination that is occuring at Horton Center. My 7 year old came home from camp asking me about pronouns, telling me that the camp counselors would not stop talking about them and making every person say their name and their pronoun to introduce themselves. She came home and said, "Mommy, I don't even understand why this pronouns stuff matters for us kids? All of us were confused and uncomfortable." When she said she told them that she didn't understand and it made her uncomfortable, they interrogated her about whether her parents had "taught her about pronouns".... At a Christian church camp, seriously??? They made the kids even put pronouns on their name tags. My daughter refused and then got taken aside and spoke to about complying with their rules. Horton Center you have no right to teach our children about topics unrelated to the bible. Secondly, they brought up to the topic of changing their birth name that was given to them, that they can change it to what they want or what makes them feel good. Excuse me, what?! Telling a group of minors that the name their parents gave them at birth can just be changed is not right and I don't appreciate Horton Center trying to break down our traditional family values. We have already told friends, family, neighbors and members of our church about our experience. We will not be attending again. Such a disappointment."
"I had a very Great time I went there 3 summer's and I was a CIT student and it was Good and I meet some nice people and one Girls name was Sandy Moon and another one was Barbara Miller and it was nice to meet new people and get to do Fun Stuff. I was their for Music Camp Week and I Loved it and if I could go back their and be a CIT again I would Love to go back it was like another Home to Me and everyone was Super Sweet and the food was Good. I Liked Helping out when I was a CIT but when my Birth Father and ex Stepmother were leaving each other I never got to go back home their and I was Super Sad because I knew I could never go back to the camp I called my Home. Horton Center will always be my favorite Camp of all Times. God Bless to my Home and Family @ Horton Center Camp"
