Reviews of Ear Nose & Throat Consultants
"Both my kids (aged 3 & 1) have been under Dr. Costello’s care, to include surgery, and we’ve had great experiences and results. My kiddos are so young that it’s incredibly important to me that I feel like they are in the best care and am 100% comfortable. Dr. Costello has great bedside manner, he’s thorough in his testing, examinations, and explanation. I don’t understand these reviews as my experience with all of the staff (nurses, reception, other doctors, etc.) has been nothing short of kind and professional. I’ve met so many parents waiting months to get into Children’s and I always refer them to Dr. Costello. Couldn’t ask for better care or surgical experiences."
"I have been to this facility multiple times for a variety of concerns from reflux (GERD / LPR) to acute infection and post infection complications. I really appreciate the timely attention and same day visits. I also like shared decision making in regards to my care. I have seen Brian Shamberger and am very satisfied with the care I have received. I feel confident because he takes the time to explain things to me."
"I had a tonsillectomy on August 7nth 2023. I met with Dr. Brown who was extremely professional and made sure I was set up with the surgical coordinator to get this procedure done and over with. Sherri Morales, the surgical coordinator was extremely rude and careless. Every-time I had called her number to speak with her about my surgical time and or questions I had leading up to my surgery she had an attitude and no interest on being on the phone or in person talking with me, which is part of her job to remind you. The doctor/surgeon I had was Dr. Doolittle. I was prescribed 40 Oxy @ 5 mg and was told by one of the discharging nurses at Shields Surgical Center to take Tylenol every hour. My caretaker was there to receive the pain regime since I was still coming out of the anesthesia. By day 2 post op I was vomiting non stop and couldn't stop shaking. The person who took care of me as well as myself were greatly concerned. By day 3 post op I was rushed to the Hospital by ambulance closet to me, and had told them the type of procedure I had, as well as the pain regime I was directed to be on after surgery. I was overdosing and slowly killing myself without even having the knowledge of it. The doctor over at the hospital was greatly concerned for my liver and how much Oxy and Tylenol I was prescribed and being told to take. I was severely dehydrated as I didn't eat or drink knowing that I would throw it up due to Oxy and Tylenol. I also had a UTI. Dr. Doolittle had instructed me to NOT take any Ibuprofen or Motrin because of bleeding. The doctor at the ER told me otherwise. I left the hospital after being on an IV, prescribed nausea meds and as well as a new pain regime which consisted of Tylenol and Motrin/Ibuprofen every 3 hours switching them so I get a little bit of something every 3 hours. ENT were very quick to send my bill to me. I had spoken with Jennifer and had a referral from my PCP sent over to them as well as insurance to cover the bill. A week went by with no phone call back from them regarding the bill, including no e-mail or mail sent out to my address. I called them to make sure everything was squared away with my bill. It wasn't. Nobody called me to let me know that they needed another referral from my PCP. They also said it’s on the patient to call. I work at a medical office as a receptionist and you call the patient regarding their bill and or if they need an updated referral to take care of the patients bill. They are so rude over in the office I find it disgusting and appalling. All of the girls in the office who are in reception and or customer care departments think they know it all and when they do something wrong they blame it on the patient. Meanwhile you’re in your 20s’s and not on the floor or in a white jacket but instead you’re behind a desk… keep sitting because you won’t be going very far in the med field with that kind of attitude. I am now 1 month post op, and on my right side of the back of my mouth (where my tonsils were once located) I still have a chunk of tonsil that was not taken out. I have relocated since my surgery and am now going to have to find a new ENT doctor to fix Dr. Doolittle's mess. I am so frustrated as this was my first surgery ever and no one took care of me like I thought I would be taken care of here. My anxiety about this surgery was extreme, I got sedated before surgery because of the stress and anxiety I was having while nurses and the anesthesiologist were prepping me before I went under the knife. It takes a lot to trust anyone when you aren't conscious enough to be able to trust them visually. Take this review and all the others as a vibrant precaution and red flag before entering this office and receiving what they call “treatment”."
"The staff and management need more training. It’s a shame how this practice is run. The staff has no knowledge and misinform patients and simply don’t care customer service. Just a few of the many problems in healthcare today. The bad reviews are accurate. All the good review are from several years ago. After my experience, I see why. What a shame. I gave 1 star for the Dr. I saw. He was very pleasant."
"I had such a wonderful experience here with Dr. Costello! I'm so surprised by other negative reviews, every part of my interaction with different staff (receptionist, office manager/surgery scheduler, Dr. Doolittle, and of course Dr. Costello) was exceptional. Dr. Costello is amazing with kids- I actually went to him on the recommendation of 15+ people in a local parents group and as soon as I met him I knew why. He is kind, caring, down to earth, and explains everything easily. My son being so little (2) it was vital that I felt 100% comfortable with the surgeon removing his adenoids, and I felt that right away after meeting Dr. Costello. I couldn't have asked for a better surgical experience at Shields in Medford (so much less stressful than a hospital). My son recovered great and I really appreciated the Dr. himself calling to check on him the next day. 10/10 all around!"
