Reviews
"The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta is the best! The facility is new, clean, and has everything you could want! From a full workout area to a large basketball court, indoor track, and tennis courts, the CLC Y has it all. Childcare, fitness classes, and a large playground are also available at CLC. I have been a member for close to a year and a half and absolutely love it."
"Tennis courts are tooooo expensive (because of $10 non member fee added) , no discount for seniors, and kids...defined as under 16 play free....as do whomever they are playing with. Anyone out there have a 15 year old tennis player I can borrow ?"
"I love and need the Y. I can't use it because it isn't safe. Few if any members use or even carry a mask in direct opposition to the stated Y policy. The staff work diligently to sanitize but the members are often unsafe. Covid is a huge strain on all of us but if we follow the rules we'll get through it."
"My review is mainly for the fitness facilities/classes, and it's really a 2.5. Agree the overall aesthetic post renovation is lovely, light and modern, particularly for a Y. Which makes it that much more frustrating that the fitness center parts are so odd. Examples: 1. In the main exercise equipment area, it is next to impossible to find space to do your own thing - such as non-machine exercises like jumping jacks, other calisthenics, or stretching. I typically find myself in a corner, hitting my legs against an office door, or scrunched against a machine. Often see people using the hallway to the locker room. I've asked if I could use an empty fitness class room (ie yoga etc) and staff told me no - the rooms are locked and unavailable outside of class use. 2. Same amt of treadmills as an average hotel gym, which I am in often. And pretty basic given recent upgrade investments - no screens, and often not centered and therefore loud. 3. Speaking of screens: there are 3 or 4 flatscreens on one wall, which are not viewable from the treadmills, or other commonly used cardio equipment; and overall an odd / awkward placement choice. Rarely see anyone actually easily watching them - so why bother? 4. Fitness Classes: stopped attending here and paying to attend elsewhere. Somewhat due to lower-challenge level and lack of experienced teachers (overl-ookable) but mostly due to odd, distracting energy and set-up in class rooms. Example: spin classes occur in a long, large room without surround sound and just a sad speaker. Any spin attendee or teacher knows loud and good quality music is vital. Bikes are never set-up the same and have to be moved. Again, post hefty investments seems like a big overlook and a huge miss. Big fan of what YMCAs provide and the Farm program here seems pretty amazing. Just always leave feeling frustrated at the inconsistencies between a clearly large budget renovation and the fitness center experience."
