"Avoid!!!! First bad sign- went in for total knee replacement and they messed up and had my mother do a hip X-ray and after 5 hrs being in there for initial appointment, they finally was able to analyze the left knee by a bunch of fellows and dr. Melnic. 2nd- operation was scheduled but no communication was sent about pre-op appointment 1 month prior. After multiple attempt with less then a month away, they tell you to schedule with YOUR physician because they no longer have a person for the pre-op appointments. Yeah…with such short notice, we were only able to get one a few days before surgery due to cancellation. THE UGLY- no one gave my mother food or even the option to order food until I was allowed to see her at 6pm. She is a diabetic and didn’t eat since 6pm the night before. When I came, she was awake, hungry, alone and NO ONE gave her the call light and they DO NOT explain the care during the hospital stay such as they wouldn’t give her her diabetes medicine and will manage it via insulin which they are suppose to monitor her sugar but they tested her sugar DURING her meal all 3 times! They also communicate without interpreter (physicians, PAs and fellows) which we wrote down that her primary language was NOT English. Because they don’t explain the care, we did not know she was suppose to ice her knee until discharge- I had ask about cold therapy the night before and again during the day of discharge! During the whole stay, they did not give her an ice pack. THE UGLIEST- paged the covering physician from 11:15am to 4:45am on day of discharge - NO RESPONSE- and now we are on our own if we should go to the emergency room. I am so surprised since I just had a c-section here in late April. Totally different experience. This by far one of the most helpless feeling of whether we made the right choice coming here. I don’t even know if we can file a complaint."

"Dr. Bedair performed an elective knee replacement for me in early 2020. I went to him because I had several very strong recommendations by both doctors and past patients. The past patient recommendations were particularly persuasive. I have to say those recommendations were very much warranted. The procedure went flawlessly and the recovery has permitted me to return to my normal activities....recreational endurance bicycling and hiking...at very advanced levels. I am 72 years old but bicycle with a lot of younger riders, many of whom are racers. In other words, I returned to perform at a very high level. In June of this year (2021) I suffered a horrific bicycle crash mid-afternoon fracturing my femur leaving a gap between the two pieces of that bone about an inch apart. When I was brought to the hospital, Dr Bedair was on vacation but his partner . Dr. Chris Melnic put me on his schedule for the next day. He already had 7 procedures scheduled and but he added me. I was advised that both doctors were "interchangeable" as to their skills. It was a no-brainer that there would have to be a hip replacement...the damage to the femur was too great to proceed in any other manner. I am only two months out from the hip replacement. I have had virtually no pain in the joint, My groin muscle was so stretched out because of the bone dislocation that it is still uncomfortable on occasion but the joint has remained pain-free. The 2 month x-rays indicate that everything is better than excellent and I am in process of fully returning to my strenuous physical activities. Did I mention that I am 72 years old?"

"Absolutely amazing office, amazing doctors, amazing staff. I personally see Dr.F but I've heard great things about Melnic and Bedair. The front desk staff are always sweet and very helpful. And the two medical assistants are so accommodating. Also my hip works now, so, that's a bonus! A +, would recommend"

"Do Not Go There!!!! So they didn’t bother to tell me a head of time they that were going to have me do X-ray. And then made me sit it the waiting room well past my appointment. They told me this would be an hour appointment. I didn’t even get to see the doctor before I had to leave to go to work because they told me an hour appointment. I can not believe how unprofessional this whole office was. From the staff to the doctors. Do not go there. And the front desk was gossiping so loudly and they were rude and unprofessional as well."

"I went to see Dr. Christopher Melnic at the Kaplan Joint Center to get a second opinion on a total hip replacement. After my consultation with Dr. Melnic, I was so impressed with the way he explained everything to me and treated me that I decided to go with him to do the surgery. It was definitely the best decision on my part. Not only was the surgical experience great but the follow-up and rehab was beyond my expectations. Not even a month after the surgery and I was walking unassisted without any pain whatsoever. Couldn't have asked for a better outcome and everyone at the Kaplan Joint Center and Newton-Wellesley Hospital were amazing."
