Reviews of Fertility Centers of New England
"Awful customer service and good luck getting your records and things you need. I’m very glad I did not proceed with FCNE and do not recommend them just based on the poor service. That being said, Dr Vitiello was really kind and professional and would’ve loved to continue working with her."
"Do not take your business here unless you want to support an institution that uses discriminatory practices. I contacted Fertility Centers of New England to schedule a virtual consult for medicinal treatment of male infertility, a condition their website says they treat. I received an email response from Mary Kelley-Webber. She had the following information about me: my Hispanic name, my address, and that I was seeking treatment for male infertility. I requested medicinal treatment for male infertility, but in response, Mary Kelley-Webber focused on my wife's weight, and my financial status. Specifically, she let me know that they would not be able to treat me if my wife was over 38% body fat, and reminded me that IVF treatment was very expensive by listing the prices for all kinds of services that I neither needed nor requested. I reminded her that I was seeking medicinal treatment for male infertility, not IVF treatments. She then denied me an appointment. My condition is not expensive to treat (medication is cheap), nor does my wife need to be thin in order for me to receive the medication that corrects it. Mary Kelley-Webber should know this, assuming that she is not grossly incompetent to do the job for which she was hired. When I told the company's CEO, Joseph Hill, that I thought Mary Kelley-Webber was implying that my Latina wife was expected to be (stereotypically) fat and that I was expected to be (stereotypically) poor, and that she was capriciously denying me treatment, he did not reply. Another employee, Ann Therrien, extended an offer for me to make an appointment, but when I accepted the offer, I didn't receive a response. Also, do not believe the company when they tell you that they offer virtual consultations. Before Mary started focusing on my wife's weight and my ability to afford various treatments that I wasn't requesting, she wanted me to commit to traveling to Reading, MA. I had to keep reminding her that their website offers virtual consultations, but this did not seem to change anything. I do not recommend this business. Imagine what it would be like if you end up having a problem with your treatment, and this is how they respond to you. Again, do not take your business here unless you want to support an institution that uses discriminatory practices."
"I want to thank the FCNE reading location for everything they helped me with for a little bit over a year. You were so kind to me. I'm beyond grateful for having been referred to Dr. Weiss and his team. I honestly didn't think that given my condition I would be able to get pregnant, but they proved me wrong. I'm 6 weeks and 5 days pregnant, and I can't still believe it. I also want to give Kathleen Collins (from ultrasound-not sure if I'm spelling her name right) a huge THANKS for being so kindhearted to me when I needed it the most. She's one of the most loving medical staff members I ever met. I don't know if she realizes the difference she made during my treatment. Thank you!"
"I would not recommend FCNE. They have already ruined my trust and confidence in their practices in our first handful of interactions. First, they advertise a free initial consult for individuals without fertility insurance. They then billed me for the visit after both I and their office confirmed prior to my initial visit that my insurance does not cover infertility treatment. When asked, they stated the EOB they received indicated it was covered but deductible not yet met; they would not provide me with a copy of the EOB they received. My insurance confirmed FCNE were sent the same EOB I received, which clearly states it was denied as a non-covered service. FCNE billing just told me basically it's not their problem and to talk to my insurance. Second, when asked how I could file a formal complaint regarding the above, the billing representative first said she didn't know how and I'd just have to search their website, and then outright lied to me (told me to use the contact us option in the website footer and select complaint option from the drop-down; no such option exists). Third, on my very first in person visit to their new Falmouth office for diagnostic testing, their technician was over 2.5 hours late and the only solution offered (after several attempts to reach anyone in the main office) was to drive to their Portsmouth NH office. Another patient waiting with me said this was the second time this has happened (out of two visits). They called us back some 20 minutes later and said the technician would be there after all (2 hrs after the original scheduled appointment time); we went back and waited another 40 minutes before she did arrive. Also, since this office is otherwise unstaffed, we had to wait on the floor in the hallway (currently a construction zone!) The only acknowledgement we received was an apology call later in the day, with no information on any proactive plans made to avoid this happening again."
