"This is a great clinic! We were taken to an exam room very quickly. Barely sat down in the waiting room. Dr. Mahoney was thorough in answering all our questions about our new baby. She was very gentle during them exam. Then Kerri came in and managed to do a heel prick and took some blood for a test and our boy didn’t make a single peep! Then the receptionist at the front was very accommodating when trying to set up follow-up appointments for two parents with busy schedules. They’re good at what they do here and it shows!"
"During the Pedi Meet & Greet I requested, we spoke with Dr. Mahoney, who warmly and patiently answered all of our questions. Unfortunately she was out on vacation when our 5-day old baby needed the first appointment, so we saw Dr. Gupta. He told us that in his culture they don’t wake the baby up to feed (baby-led strategy). While we were glad to hear that Dr. Gupta brings diverse perspectives and is culturally aware. Still this took us by surprise, because in our situation there’s a clear medical reason why we need to do exactly the opposite of what he shared with us. When we aligned on the chief complaint and workup plans, Dr. Gupta worked around the clock and helped us with care coordination to get specialist care which we were super grateful for. Overall, the clinicians and staff here are dedicated, kids friendly and very responsive. The biggest dealbreaker for us was that this facility doesn’t have Lab or Radiology on-site. This meant three things. For one, we had to make extra trips to get diagnostic testing. Secondly, we were informed that there was a slight (unclear) risk that certain types of blood tests could be inaccurate due to delay in transit if any. Thirdly, we had our baby’s blood work both sent to (first collection) and collected directly (a repeat test) at Mount Auburn Hospital, but were unable to view digital test results directly in MyChart because it was done at an external facility. It took us an hour to check in, wait around and have the blood drawn directly at the hospital - very inefficient. This didn’t work out for us - your typical time strapped new parents. We eventually decided to switch to a different practice with an Integrated Care Model and have staff available also during lunch hours. This practice was disappointed that we were leaving and spent sometime explaining to us why things were the way they were. It took us 3 back and forth conversations to communicate our decision to leave the practice to the Nurse/Doctor/Registration before they accepted our final decision. My partner was conflict averse, so I had to deliver the difficult message multiple times which they did not like to hear and kept pushing back. I personally found this off-boarding experience exhausting and a bit disrespectful. We were lucky that we were able to get an appointment with our new Pedi the very next day. When our new Pedi office requested the transfer of medical records on our behalf, this place were non-responsive and canceled my access to MyChart so I couldn’t provide a written consent. The office staff decided to call my partner only for verbal consent of such transfer, but left out the name of the health system we choose to go with. I had to jump in and request them to confirm the details. If you don’t mind the system inefficiencies, this practice is great and has very dedicated clinicians who are eager to call, listen, followup and help. It just did not work out for us."

She takes the time to listen to our concerns and answer any questions we have, no matter how trivial they seem. Her explanations are always clear and easy to understand. It's obvious that she truly cares about the well-being of her patients and their families. We feel fortunate to have found such an excellent pediatrician and are grateful for all she has done for our family!"

Well, Dr. Gupta and his associates have been wonderful in both respects. Every time I have needed some reassurance, responses have been prompt and always with sound advice. They will see you the same day if need be. They accept a variety of insurances which has been helpful as we have changed ours a few times. "When I first visited BCH and interviewed Dr. Gupta about his practice, one of the things he told me was that he wants to make sure that no parent with a sick child ever has to wait days for an appointment. I can say that in our first year with the practice (with two young children), we have always been seen the same day for our concerns, without a lot of skeptical questioning to find out if my child is REALLY sick enough to be seen. This, along with the exceptional standard of care overall, has made us into very loyal and happy patients at BCH!"
