"Had a small but unusual issue while visiting the Block and went to the center on the weekend. Jenelle (hope I spelled that correctly) saw me Short story; she was awesome. Knew her stuff and was as nice as could be. Block Island is lucky to have her as a medical resource."

"While visiting this beautiful island, I had an accident, resulting in my lower leg getting crushed by a moped. All medical personnel from the EMT’s to the Nurse Practitioner and PA student, were nothing short of professional, acting quickly to get a proper diagnosis of likely compartment syndrome. This resulted in being air lifted to Providence Hospital for emergency surgery, which ultimately saved my leg from amputation. The staff was nothing short of perfect. They made me as comfortable as they could, acted swiftly, did needed X-Rays, collaborated with the ER and an orthopedic surgeon on the mainland , who was waiting for me to arrive. I have so much heartfelt gratitude for the folks staffing the Block Island Health Services that day in October. I will never forget you ❤️"

"I have only visited this medical center once and they followed up on my visit today and I can not be more satisfied with my experience and I couldn't be any more impressed with the entire staff that I've had communication with. The receptionists are pleasant and personable, the medical assistants are thorough and respectful, and the doctors are knowledgeable and beyond helpful. Every staff member ensured my needs were met under all possible circumstances. The doctors were so patient with me in spite of me being worried and overwhelmed and thus not being able to provide clear, chronological information; and they explained everything to me which is exactly what I hope for with a medical process and diagnosis. I had a lot of possible diagnoses ruled out in a single visit which had me feeling so much better by the time my visit was over, and the follow-up today helped me understand why certain condions I was worried about shouldn't be any cause for concern. The Block Island Medical Center truly helped me and really showed me that they care about my health and well-being. I feel truly cared for, not just an obligation as part of their occupation. And I will forever be thankful for the experience. Thank you all!!!"

"I broke my hand earlier this summer doing something stupid and I expected to hear the negative comments like you should not do that it was dumb. But they were really understanding and made me not feel so stupid lol. They were super kind . I initially went there just so she could wrap it properly but she convinced me to get and exray and glad I did. She found me a ride with some nice people that were also going off island and she offered financial assistance...to the previous negative review they were probably on break it's not a fully staffed hospital. It's a medical center and they're entitled to take a break. The ladies behind the counter may not be nurses and your friend probably wasn't having an emergency. Likely mad you missed some Vacation time. If it's an emergency then call 911. That is all"

"I am impressed that this medical center which is only staffed by one RN and one attending MD/NP is able to take care of all the patients on this island during the busy summer months. Sure, there is a wait sometimes, but there always is at any ED. @Previous reviewer, unruly/intoxicated patrons (who are not even patients) who treat staff inappropriately can be expected to be escorted out by police, just like any other establishment"
