"I had to change my review after all this time. I was denied being a patient, because I did not have a certain shot! I was accepted to Jonathan G. Sabourin at Coastal Foot and Ankle. Dr. Sabourin caught a few foot issues THAT were NEVER pointed out. Serious enough I will need surgery. Both nice doctors. However, how does one miss clear issues that are serious. I did not know any better and thought it was just normal. Blessing in disguise. Original review:: This facility is fabulous. It is VERY professional and clean. The doctor is extremely knowledgeable, and the receptionist kind and courteous. All of my issues were addressed in one sitting. I highly recommend Newport Family Foot Care. A++"

"I went to this podiatry office mainly because the doctor uses the MLS laser to treat different foot ailments. I had a very positive first office visit with the doctor and Karen, the office manager. The doctor went above and beyond to listen to my concerns, was very kind, competent, and had great "beside manners". However, they hired a new receptionist, Rachel, who is extremely unprofessional and rude. She set up some appointments for me to receive the MLS laser treatments, but I had to reschedule them due to a conflict with my job. She became upset that I wanted to reschedule: Stating, "I was the one that set up all those appointments for you, it took me a long time to do it. I tried to interject that I had no choice but to reschedule, and she kept talking over me, refusing to listen to anything. Now, a professional receptionist, would have stated " You need to reschedule, ok, no problem." I called back to reschedule my appointment and Karen the manager told me, I was the one who was rude. She further stated that the doctor wouldn't see me. A great doctor needs a professional staff who know how to handle patients' frustrations, concerns, and know how not to escalate a situation that would otherwise go smoothly. Rachel, does not know how to deal with the public."

"I am a professional ballet dancer with the Island Moving Company in Newport. A colleague recommended Dr. Sheff's office and I was grateful when I was able to quickly schedule an appointment regarding a inflammation injury in my right foot. Since this injury is work-related and affects my day-to-day performance, my company agreed to file a workman's comp claim to help me (my insurance is a high-deductible plan). I believe I mentioned this when scheduling my appointment--but, full disclosure--can't remember if I did for sure. However, when I arrived for my appointment this morning, I was informed that Newport Family Footcare simply doesn't accept workman's comp claims. The receptionist informed me that "sometimes it takes over a year to get the money." Well...I'm so sorry it takes so long for them to get their precious money. I wonder if they've considered that my feet are my LIVELIHOOD and that every day my injury goes untreated is a BIG deal for me. I find this policy to be offensive and discriminatory. As one of the only podiatrist offices in the Newport area, you would think that Newport Family Footcare would take the opportunity to work with and support the community's elite athlete/artists, but instead they have completed rejected them. Perhaps Dr. Sheff and his colleagues do wonderful work, but until he reconsiders his elitist office policies my opinion of his practice will remain very low."
