"Went to Dartmouth urgent care for a problem focused exam. Physician's assistant gave me a script for antibiotics. Appointment was about 15 minutes, eight of which was spent waiting to be seen by the PA. The bill was $284.12 with the insurance discount. I called Convenient MD for comparison. They charge $150 for a problem focused exam without insurance. Antibiotics prescription would have been another $15, which they would have given me at while at the appointment to take home. Edit: I contacted patient relations per Dartmouth Hitchcock's response. Representative told me they don't handle billing issues. They referred me to their billing department. Billing department reviewed the bill and said the amount billed was appropriate. If DH is going to charge almost double with insurance what another clinic would charge without insurance, they should at least conspicuously display their office visit fees at the check in window. What a racket."

"I had to get a appointment through them because I have been sick for days on end, usually I just take medicine and try to feel better on my own but ever since I was a child I’ve always gotten really sick. I usually see the Milford practice. I am 18 years old, my mom walked in with me to my appointment. We were following a few minutes behind no big deal if anything we would have just waited or gone down to the urgent care. We waited 15 minutes to be checked in as there was only one person working the desk who saw my appointment time, checked us in, asked us all the questions, had us pay. Then we continue to go wait. About 5 minutes later, an older LPN came out so rudely and tried yelling at me not realizing the lady sitting next to me was my mother. She continued to be rude yelling at me, being totally disrespectful to a young person who is sick. My mother finally steps in and tells her we understand and tries to explain to her what went on. She stated she didn’t care and continued to be rude. We told her she was being rude, got up ready to leave and she stated “I can’t just put other people behind to put you in front” when that’s NOT what we were looking for at all. If she kindly came out and told us to head down to urgent care or to wait until the next two patients were seen I would of gladly. We just thought we were being seen as we were checked in, if I wasn’t, that would of been okay to but the way she was to a patient is disgusting. I hope no child has to go through that."

"As time goes by it becomes very evident that patients need to be their own advocate but sometimes that doesn’t work either. Hence, if you’re very lucky you’ll get someone like “ my Helen” that cares enough to go the extra mile or hundred! No, I’ve never met Helen but I feel like I’ve known her forever! Her kindness, thoughtfulness, caring, professionalism and obvious love of her job is evident upon ‘ hello’! I won’t get into all the particulars but this wonderful women took pity on this old lady and got me in last minute for an endoscopy with my Dr. She called me back every time she said she would and even told me she thought about me over the weekend! I’ve worked in healthcare all my life and have only met very few “Helen’s”! So thank you my friend……..for caring!!!"
