Reviews
"Dr. Doshier is an excellent doctor, with an equally helpful (and friendly!) receptionist/assistant. I felt respected and listened to while working with him- like my treatment plan was a collaborative effort between the two of us. When I first started working with him I had trouble taking ownership over my life and making decisions for myself, and having my input valued on something so important (my mental health) made a big difference. Dr. Doshier is compassionate and thoughtful during our sessions. He really encouraged me to take control of my mental health. Working with Dr. Doshier has been great experience for me, and I highly recommend him."
"Dr. Doshier is a soft-spoken, smart and caring doctor. He is conservative with how he prescribes and takes into account my feelings. Even though i understood he only prescribes, I have found on most of my visits he gives me the time I need to talk a bit about how I'm feeling emotionally, and he offers his observations as well. This is key because of course it ties in with how he prescribes. I'm completely satisfied with this practice and glad I found him."
"I think he is a brilliant diagnostician. With that said, I appreciate his subtle and encouraging stance on mental illness, in that one's diagnosis is what one has, and not who you are. Diagnosis are merely tools, not the end. He is conservative on drugs, seems he prescribes them as tools to help you work with/on your stuff, when you are ready to, and support you in your journey to mental health. Expensive, yes. My insurance stinks, and won't cover psychiatric unless it is an intake. Yes, quality mental health services at an affordable price is an issue that needs to be resolved by our society - but until we have insurance companies that see how important mental health is, and pay for it, have governments that see health care, including mental health care, as a human right, it is unfair to blame this well-trained {for many years and at great cost I bet} and brilliant diagnostician. whom I feel genuinely cares about his patients and profession. After my seeing mental health professionals on and off since I was eighteen years old, he was the first professional who made me feel like I was getting to the real issues surrounding my mental illness. Can I afford this doctor? No, I am unemployed. I have some support. But two months of not buying coffee will pay for the bi-monthly check-ins. And my relationships with others - I am beginning to understand my motivations, and theirs, and because of that, I am beginning to heal. That, in my book, is the litmus test of progress, and effective mental health care."
"I was referred here by my wonderful psychiatrist of over a decade, Dr. Miner, who promised Dr. Doshier was a therapy-minded doctor who could also prescribe medications when necessary. After waiting 2 1/2 months for an appointment he forced me into the 20-minute category of client, meaning drug mill visits and that is all. Some comments were made by him about my potential inability to cover the bill, due on the spot, which I'd never seen before. Dr. Miner always go paid. So I guess a drug mill for the upper class is what he's running there in Pittsfield. Sign up and get your pills and pay the bill before you leave!! Good work, doctor."
"This is a caring practice with each individual's needs in mind. You start as an individual on a first name basis which seems to stay that way, yet also keeping the practice (or appointments) extremely private, or spaced so.. for each person's privacy factor. He is one for punctuality and (including payment rendered after service ; ) but that's not asking too much..). Honestly, I'd be lost without him as a person and practitioner. It's been almost 3 years now and I'm so grateful I found them or they found me! Thank you Sarah and Dr. Doshier!"
