About the Business
Located at 19 Kuhn Road in Sandyston, New Jersey, the Peters Valley School of Craft: Office is more than just a typical administrative space. As an art gallery and store, we offer a unique opportunity for artists and art enthusiasts to focus, explore, and create in the beautiful surroundings of the Delaware Water Gap. Since 1970, we have been bringing together established and emerging artists from around the world to collaborate and learn from each other.
Our current exhibition, "Delicate Resilience: An Exhibition of Work by Liz Hamilton Quay," showcases the intricate and innovative textile art of Liz Hamilton Quay, Assistant Professor of Textile and Materials Studies at Kutztown University of PA. Visitors can also enjoy live demonstrations, hands-on craft activities, and shopping at our galleries featuring work from over 200 makers.
For those interested in hands-on experiences, we offer workshops such as "Intro to Dada Collage: Creating Your Own Meaningful Collages," where you can explore your creativity in a safe and welcoming environment. Our facilities, situated in the scenic Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, provide a unique setting for artistic inspiration and community engagement.
Whether you're looking to shop for handmade crafts, attend workshops, or simply explore contemporary American crafts, the Peters Valley School of Craft: Office is the perfect destination. "This place is more than an amazing craft school, it is always an experience. I always look forward to teaching and participating here. It's hard to believe I've been teaching here for a decade now. Time flies when you are having fun. The students who attend classes here also find their time rewarding. There are so many great classes available here. Peters Valley is also a supportive and inclusive creative community unlike any other. It's a place where students, teachers, and staff come together for the love of creativity. Staying on campus is very rewarding. The school is set in and old farming village surrounded by protected forest. Mealtime here is special and a good time to connect with other students, teachers, and staff. You'll probably leave not just with a new skill, but having made new friends too."
"A hidden treasure. Here you will experience a zenful and creative retreat. This craft school offers week long and weekend workshops in ceramics, fibers, woods, photography, blacksmithing, jewelry, printmaking, and various other topics."
"I haven't actually taken a class here yet but I know a lot of people who have (including my sister) and everyone loves it so much that they literally talk about how much they can't wait to return to Peter's Valley as they're leaving. Hoping I can take a course in the near future but until then enjoy these photos from my short visit with my sister and her fellow artist friends."
"Peter's Valley School of Craft is one of those special places that adds up to more than the sum of its parts. Set in the beautiful Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, the school offers crafts education from nationally-known craftspeople (including yours truly). It is a place to get away from the grind of everyday life and focus on creativity and learning new skills."
"Definitely worth the drive for the gallery and the store. Especially during the holidays. For those interested in classes, they are the best in the area. They may seem expensive, but I have to say they are worth every penny. The instructors are top notch."
