Ed Sullivan Theater
About the Business
The Ed Sullivan Theater, located at 1697 Broadway in New York City, is a historic 13-story brick building designed by architect Herbert Krapp. Originally named Hammerstein’s Theater in honor of Arthur Hammerstein’s father, the theater opened its doors in 1927 with a musical play starring Cary Grant. After a series of ownership changes, CBS took over the building in 1935 and converted it into a television studio known as CBS-TV Studio 50. In 1953, Ed Sullivan began hosting his iconic variety show from the studio, which was later renamed The Ed Sullivan Theater in his honor. Today, the theater continues to be a symbol of entertainment history and a beloved landmark in the heart of Manhattan.

"Stunningly beautiful theater! When Colbert took it over his team uncovered the amazing architecture that was hidden for decades. The lighting and video in the space are sublime. If you're lucky enough to visit when there is a musical performance you're in for a treat. All around funny show."
"very nice place. the staff is very professional (as you would expect) and they manage the crowd exceptionally well. asked for tickets just three days ahead of time, was given invitation two days ahead and was able to confirm a free spot the night before. once I arrived it was really marrow, but was among the last admitted. great to see it live."
"Loved the show, huge Stephen fan! My only issue is with the operations. Waiting outside for nearly an hour on a city sidewalk, in the cold wasn’t ideal. I can’t say enough about the show itself though. Stephen, guests and house band were top notch!"
"We had fun attending The Late Night show in the beautiful iconic theater. Stephen Colbert and the band put on a great show. Fun fun fun."
"We're big Colbert fans, so we were so excited to be able to get tix for the first week of THE LATE SHOW with Stephen Colbert tapings post-writer's strike! Really fun date afternoon/early evening out. Such a cool, historic theater and always a fun experience."
