"I just wanted to talk to a manager that doesn't need to write a fake name down on a card (aka someone that works there).... I asked to have a managers email and they dont have one... please put your money in a different bank."
"Bank of America in general is terrible. Two years ago they cancelled my debit card due to fraud and I’ve been trying to order a physical new one ever since. After no card showing up for two years of ordering and reordering, I called in and someone I spoke to helped me, confirmed my address and said it should send this time for sure and the other ones were sent and she doesn’t know why I didn’t receive them. Never got it. I went to two in person BofA’s, one of them was within the hours of operation, but had locked doors, but was full of staff with no indication as to why they aren’t allowing people in. Went in to this place, the first person said they can help set up a virtual card which I’ve had so many issues with, not everywhere takes virtual, it’s janky and rarely works, I need a physical card. They said that they can help me reorder one or I could speak to their boss about other options. I wait a long time for the boss which I understand. I told him I needed a physical card which he said they don’t carry them there, but he can check and see what’s up. I thought he meant check for cards because they did used to carry physical ones. He then asks me a bunch of information and is trying again to use the online portal to send me a new one. It “should work for sure this time” which I’ve heard way too much. I entered the right information plenty of times, and have never received any issue prior with statements I used to get in the mail under the same address I put in for the debit card. No issue with receiving my credit card in the mail with the same address. I said I don’t want to order a new one. There were no other options, I don’t know why I waited so long for “other options” when there are none??? He started getting very snarky but trying to mask it with the weakest attempt at a customer service voice. Now working towards switching my bank over fully to CIT bank, highly recommend it, platinum savings account is like 5% compounding interest. They cover all ATM fees, and I’m sure they’ll actually send me my debit card. Also the way I heard the staff talking to other customers in there is ridiculous. Would love to work there and get paid to be passive aggressive and tell people they have to “do that online”. Can’t wait to cancel my credit card and finish moving all my money to CIT bank."
"I had an excellent experience the other day working with a Merrill Advisor (Lisa) at this BoA location, she walked me through all my options and took care to follow-up with an email. The staff at this location were very welcoming when I came in and attentive to make sure I was directed to the right area. I made an appointment ahead of time and everything ran on schedule. Overall an excellent customer experience."
"I wanted to see if my local branch provided a specific service before I schlepped there in person. Probably would have been a 5 second phone call. I called 5 times and no one picked up."
"Summary: don't trust what the bankers tell you, and expect to pay hidden fees for what the banker promised you was included with your account. I walked into the branch with my nine-month pregnant wife last week, seeking to open a new checking account with a complimentary safe deposit box. Banker #1, Paola, was very nice and explained to us that if we opened a certain account with a specific minimum balance, we would get a complimentary safe deposit box. We spent about an hour there, but could not open the box at that time since they only deal with safe deposit boxes on certain days of the week. So, we made an appointment for the next week to get everything taken care of before our baby was born. When we arrived, banker #2 told us that we'd have to pay an annual fee for the account. That was plainly different than what banker #1 told us, so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager came, looked at some paperwork, and confirmed that the account would be free. By that time we had been there for 45 minutes, but he said it would take just 15 more minutes. So we hung around, did the paperwork, put all our stuff in the box. Another surprise, the lock on the safe was busted and we could not put our stuff in. By that time we had to leave for an OB appointment, but planned to return in the afternoon to finish everything. As we drove to the OB, the bank manager called to say that the safe deposit box would not be free after all, but that he would be able to waive the fee for the first year. Fine, we thought; not ideal, but we didn't have the capacity to argue about it. Then, the same manager called again in a couple of hours, only to say he was wrong, they WOULD NOT waive the fee for one year. But we could have the box if we paid the standard fee. I just wish I had never walked into this bank in the first place, I've never had this sort of experience with ANY large, reputable corporation. Also, they lured us in to open an account with them with a false promise, and then don't even have proper policies in place to absorb the mistakes made by their own bankers and managers. Final note: while we were there waiting in the morning, an elderly man was having an argument with some of the other bankers since they would not release some money that was in his account, and he was threatening to close his account with them. My suggestion: find somewhere else to bank that will be professional."
