"My mom and me like it so yea"
"I was completely honest about my child having a reading disability that is recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act in Rhode Island. Most of the staff including the principal's, had no idea of the process to get me services through the city of Providence. My advice is if you have multiple children, you do run the risk of having a child with some kind of reading disability or learning difference. We have come so far in education and now know kids learn differently. Choose a school that believes education has progressed over the years and learning is possible for all children with the right methods. Choose a school that can navigate through the process to get you special services, if they don't have services in house. Having a school tell you what they can't do and what your child can't do, isn't going to help your child or you."
"This is based on my knowledge at the time I'm writing this. I am in the 2018 8th grade class. I hope this information is useful to you. I will be writing about the current 2017-2018 teachers/classes mostly in middle school. Here are the classes: Gym, computer, art, math, science , computer lab/ lab, literature, vocabulary, language arts/ writing, social studies, and Spanish. Gym: As for this year, you can't call this class Physical education. All the options are basket ball on one side volley ball on the other. Of course there are other options, but this is mostly what we get. Most of the class sits down on the bleachers and talk. Computer: 0 education whatsoever. All we do is sit at the comouters doing whatever we want. We used to learn typing but most of us peck the keys on the keyboard. Also coding which didn't last very long. So if you expect to learn useful information about computers you're better off learning it by yourself. Art: We paint and draw whatever the teacher tells us to. It's personally fun for me. However, we don't learn about shading, depth, color, etc. Math: The current teacher (who might be sadly retiring) is the best teacher amongst the school. She is very kind and teaches us exactly what we need to know. And for us, 8th grade she is teaching us what we might be learning in high school. Science: We do get taught, and we have notes and tests. She is enthusiastic about science. We also have fun activities from time to time. Computer lab: This is useless according to many. We do virtual labs (look it up) and have to answer questions according to what we did. You can expect mindlessly clicking on things and hoping for the correct answer. Once finished you can do whatever you want on the computers Lab: There is no complaints. We either do paperwork or small experiments. Literature: Who was supposed to be the teacher unfortuanatlet had surgery and was gone most of our school year. He is a very kind man and works along with the math teacher to make fun activitues. Sometimes he helps us by having "therapy classes" and we talk to him about our problems. During reading he would pause us every oaragraoh or two, to restate information dn to tell us what is important or needed to be known. He makes reading more exciting becuase he helps us understand and such. Language Arts/ Writing: the new teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. She is a very fun teacher. Often guves us activities and optional paperwork to help us understand what to do. We never can get lost. If we don't understand something, or have a question she is always there to help. 8th grade (I'm not sure about below) is being prepared for highschool with research papers in MLA 8 format. Social Studies: Very clear and organized class. Led by the Spanish teacher, we go through section by section doing this: reading, vocabulary, checkpoints, assesment, paperwork, quiz/test. Very simple and no stress in this class. She is very friendly, and not biased with the kids. Spanish: Same teacher as social studies. No complaints, however we don't learn much Spanish. Out of 7 years of learning we didn't learn much and it was mostly rehash from the last year. Vocabulary: Led by the lower grade computer teacher. It's obvious it's out there to add more grades to literature. We sit there do the work and that's all. That concludes it! I hope this information is of use to you! I wish you good luck if you/ child is considering going to this school!"
