Reviews of King Philip Woods
"Few people go here on any given day (partially due to limited parking spaces), so you're likely to be alone/nearly alone and, thus, on a serene hike. There's a pond in the middle where birdhouses are atop poles wedged into the pond's bottom (the lower halves of the poles are essentially submerged unless it's an unusually dry period for the area). Autumn lends many vibrant hues. The trails go up and down hills, and there's no shortage of boulders and exposed rocks (evidence of this region's glaciated past). Stone walls hint at this region's agricultural spots from Colonial times. Dogs will adore this place, given it's a forest with all the sniffing material those usually entail. There are connections to other small-scale conservation areas if you wish to extend your hike. Bar ticks and mud, the only disadvantage is the trails aren't always apparent or maintained. One we attempted to follow dead-ended, while another was impassible due to a fallen tree. Relaxing area to get away from crowds and enjoy nature, but cumulatively needs clearing and signs."
"A great trail with lots of field stone walls that can make you imagine how important the area was to the community. Be sure to find the old foundations of the garrison and possibly the world's smallest beaver dam"
"A Peaceful Respite inconspicuously tucked away in the woods of Sudbury Ma. Dedicated to the preservation of wild flowers and ferns with guided trails and an incredible gift shop."
"Beautiful quiet and peaceful. Trail a bit unkempt but I like those kinds of trails."
"Small park, and the main trail was too waterlogged to walk on during the beginning of spring. However, the side trail to the right is rather scenic and cozy and eventually lead to a small sitting space atop a hill overlooking the road. Taking the non-uphill split takes you to a grassy area next to the road that has a non-gated, open fence in front of it."
