Reviews of Pachaquack Preserve
"Lovely place to take a nice walk with your family or dogs. The trail starts through the woods along the Kinderhook Creek. There are a few places you can access the creek for fishing or cooling off (if swimming wear water shoes because unfortunately there is broken glass). This is also a great place to put in a tube and float down to the begrudge in Kinderhook. Part of the trail then goes through a meadow, before circling back around to the access road. It’s about a 30-40 minute loop all together."
"Beautiful! This is Lake Desolation. It is NOT the preserve that google thinks it is!!!"
"This is a beautiful spot for a nice walk. I was there about 20 years ago and loved it, over the years I had forgotten about it. Just yesterday I was mapping my route to the Columbia County Fair and remembered this lovely spot and just had to find it again!!!!! We did find it however we didn't walk too far in this time as we were on the way to the fair but the views of the Kinderhook are just so beautiful and this is a great spot for nature photography if you're into that. It was not crowded as I only saw one other car in the parking lot and the lot is a good size too. There are some large potholes driving in so I would not drive too fast, the road is very very short and you can avoid the potholes if you drive slow. The path runs along the creek from what I remember, but I don't recall ever walking it to the end. Definitely worth a visit. Right now the creek is a bit flooded with a brownish hue but with the colors of the foliage they both really end up looking stunning together. I also would rate this as a easy walk/hike, a nice area if you want some solitude surrounded by full on nature. There are some unpleasant drop offs to the right of the beginning of the trail so be careful where you step."
"Lovely views. I do wish there were trail markers on the forest side of the trail. Nice parking area."
"One of my favorite peaceful places. You can walk the whole thing in about 30 minutes, it's a great place to walk the dog! There are rarely many people on the trail, so you often see rabbits, deer, birds, and even beavers!"
