Reviews of Clute's Dry Dock
"So much nature to be seen and loved here. The best walking trail I've been to in the area. Easy for kids to complete and more than one way to go. The views are gorgeous. Wildlife all over."
"It was a very cool place, but we were battling flies all the while we were on the path, so we go irritated with that. Tried finding the lock and dam, but did a damn poor job of finding it."
"Beautiful beautiful trail, so much wildlife. Biked to this through a narrow trail. So much fun and definitely going back. I live right down the road from it. My other half and I didnt even know it was there."
"Great place. Some of the best bird viewing close to Albany. Only giving four stars because of all the water chestnut. It's so thick in some places you can't paddle. The canal is so shallow you will run aground in places and the current is so slow there's a lot of debris built up in the shallower spots"
"Lovely quiet space for fishing and hiking. Situated along the Erie canal, the Dry docks were used to repair the barges that carried goods from Upstate, NY all the way to the gulf of Mexico and beyond. You can fish from the dock or directly in the canal. A nature trail to the right leads you all to the Whipple bridge. One picnic table and small gravel parking lot make this a convenient spot. My family loves to spend time at Clute's and the only reason I gave it 4 stars is the bridge is out. It was removed, and not collapsed so I hope this means the city is already working on a repair."
