"Town run and maintained picnicking area off the beaten path of the Mohawk Trail. The best part other then an occasional Train passing through on the other side of the road is there is potty toilets out in the middle of the wilderness. A good stopping point if you know where it is, if you're leaf peeping. It's on Zoar Road off of Route 2, at the bottom before you start to climb the mountain route. And the river is on the other side. If you like water rafting or fishing and canoeing there is plenty of water in the river upstream. Get dropped off up stream have fun going down the river and Portage out at the stairs in the park. From what can be seen from the road there is small Rapids along the route. Water volume (cubic feet per second) is controlled by the power grids generating electrical dam upstream in Vermont. There is a small Cemetery in the middle of the park with a small stone wall built around it. Fishing in this area prohibits the use of live bait.
