Mass General Imaging - Chelsea

"This would be a five star review, unfortunately, Shakira, who was the tech for my CT-scan, was abrupt, and could have cared less if I was comfortable or not. I told her it was very uncomfortable to keep my arms over my head. I told her I have rotator cuff issues, she said it’s just for a few minutes, you can do that. I’m 75 years old and know my limitations. I asked for a pillow to support the elbow of the arm with rotator cuff issues, she said Yup, in a minute. I sincerely hope that when this young woman gets older that people are kinder to her than she was to me. It doesn’t cost anything to be kind. It is the first time in Any Mass Gen facility that I have been treated with anything less than respect. I sincerely hope this young woman learns some kindness, respect and consideration for elders."

"This is a bright, clean, modern facility, however my line experience there left a very poor impression. I arrived 5 min early(6:45AM on a Sunday) and found the door locked. A sing directed me to press a button, but none was evident. After pressing a few of what may have been buttons, I was buzzed in. I entered and seems to be alone. I walked a bit and saw a receptionist behind glass slider (cracked open a couple inches. She checked my name, dob, license and gave be a wrist band. Then nothing. I stood there but she continued to chat with a coworker in Spanish. I stood there for a minute or two, and she looked up and said ‘oh you can take a seat’. Thanks. Then I sat and waited 40 min. I was the First CT appt of the day! I was finally called and escorted silently to another waiting area and sat for another 10 min. A nurse came out and brought me to a procedure room to place an IV, nearly wordlessly. Once stuck I went back to wait for the CT tech, ‘only’ 5 min. Into the CT suite, told to lay down, asked about prior contrast reactions. ‘Lie still’ and scanned. Scan took 5 min, they returned, pulled my IV, perhaps saying I was done, but no more. So Over an hour for a 5 min exam with no prior patients - and never a word apologizing for the delay or explaining why they could not take me on time. And the 4 staff I interacted with had not a smile, a cheerful word, any but the most perfunctory exchange. I did not matter to them a bit. I did not go to socialize or be entertained, but I did not expect such disengaged professionals. I will stick with community hospitals in the Future."

"9/13/19 Receptionist was very rude when I simply asked where I would find the Walk in clinic. She started smirking, insinuating that I was along the lines of being obtuse asking If I was looking for urgent care? I explained I believe thats what Im looking for and continued with her smirk stating I could find it across the street. If I walk into the office that clearly states “Imaging/ CT” it’s obvious I know Im in the wrong place. I could not believe how rude she was making me feel humiliated asking for help"
