"I have been a member at Tradewinds for about 6 months now and I am so glad I found this gym. The coaches and other members are so welcoming and I instantly felt like I belonged. The programming is challenging and fun and I never regret a workout. In addition to group fitness, they sometimes program other events (ex: for holidays or team races) and it's a nice way to have a little fitness social circle that is also part of my community."
"Tradewinds offers a unique, gruelingly fun work-out in the heart of Winthrop. I’ve always found the gym experience a mundane, repetitively boring routine of mindless movement. I would typically bow out before any noticeable strength and/or physical difference emerged. That was then. This is now. Thirty minutes, three days weekly, six months later, Coach Andy still manages to make each experience distinctively unique, challenging, even entertaining at times. Both my partner and myself have seen a recognizable improvement in our over all physical well being. If you are looking for passionate, professional coaching, be it a group setting or individual, look no further than Tradewinds and its amazing team! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!"
"It's only been a couple of months with Tradewinds but I am loving it so far! I've been to a lot of other gyms in the past, so I have pretty high standards as to what gym I go to... the first thing I look for is support from the coaches. I LOVE the coaches at Tradewinds! They are so easy to talk to and really pay attention to your forms to avoid injury. The community is the second factor that's important to me - even though I haven't been at Tradewinds long, you can sense that the people in it really enjoy being around each other, and everyone is super supportive regardless of the level of fitness you're working at. The third factor I look for is the variation of the workouts. I get bored very easily... but I actually look forward to seeing what Tradewinds has for me in the upcoming week, because I know for sure that it will be different. I can go on and on, but my recommendation is to try it it out and see for yourself :)"
"I walked by Tradewinds almost every day and don’t know why I waited so long to give it a try. I had a running club in the city and loved having that community to keep my motivated, and felt like that was missing when I moved to Winthrop. Finding a community was a big part of what made me take the first step and join, and the coaches and other athletes here were exactly what I was looking for! I’ve done a lot of running and racing in my life, but never any weightlifting or training like they have in the daily workouts - so it was all very new to me. The coaches here have been amazing and really know how to introduce you to each workout and make sure you feel comfortable. They focus on form and little adjustments to make sure are safe and doing each workout correctly - and can push yourself to increase weights and intensity without feeling like you need to keep up with anyone else or risking injury. I’ve been going 3-4 times a week now for the past 4 months, and have seen more progress than any other time in my life. Plus, everyone here has been really welcoming and they make you feel like family when you walk in for every workout! Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed!"
"I started working out at CrossFit Tradewinds in February of 2016, and I have never regretted it! I easily go five to six days a week now. What keeps me coming back day-after-day to Tradewinds is mainly due to two elements: the physical transformation I have seen in my own body and abilities, and the overall community. Within a very short amount of time of working out at Tradewinds and putting in the energy and effort, I saw a very positive change in my body composition. The constantly varied workouts not only kept my body "on its toes" but also made it fun and engaging to participate in. I remember that first workout I did at Tradewinds and how I wasn't even able to complete it! I quickly realized how out of shape I had let myself become. Cut to within a year going to a local scaled competition and winning first place, and this year competing in a workout series called the Open and finishing four out of the five workouts in the top five of all the people at the gym competing! I have seen my body fat percentage drop into the single digits and built a very strong, lean, and toned physique through the help of the gym's programming, diet plans, and motivation. Besides that, I have learned to lift weights I never thought possible for me, and do movements that I had been attempting for years! Beyond leading a healthier lifestyle and seeing a positive transformation in my own body/abilities, what keeps me coming back to the gym day in and day out is the people. It was intimidating that first day walking into Tradewinds and seeing everyone working out so hard, but the coaches and people at CrossFit Tradewinds are so supportive, encouraging and helpful. People were quick to introduce themselves to me, partner up with me for workouts, and in general get to know more about me as a person. A typical workout consists of us all coming to the gym, laughing and talking about our day beforehand, and cheering each other on the whole way through any workout. We do a lot of things together as a group after as well including going to people's houses for gatherings, going out for drinks and food, local running groups, and more. And as an LGBT man I have felt supported and affirmed in the space. The people who go to Tradewinds have really become my #FitFam! Anyone thinking about stepping up their fitness game, or simply wanting to make friends and be a part of a community should definitely think about joining CrossFit Tradewinds! I have never regretted my decision, and I truly enjoy going to the gym every day!"
