"This is my gym but I swear to god someone is going to drop dead from them not having the AC on. I complained to three people a few days ago. They turned it on. It was 90 degrees. Today is even hotter . No AC. Absolutely insane."
"The facility is clean. They have all the equipment anyone would ever need. "Most" of the staff goes above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. I used to go everyday for 7 years. The Y was my safe haven and a great place to meet some folks and get in shape. As far as programs I guess they were ok. I only attended spin classes and that was my demise when they BANNED ME and kicked me out for criticizing a trainer in a text message to her...and only her...I would never go over her head to complain and get her in trouble. However...this "trainer" and I use that term lightly, ran to her boss, the director, and whined that I had criticized her. Whaaa!!! And then they unleashed the demons of hell on me. Long story short...1. I signed up and paid for 9 one-on-one training sessions with this trainer. 2. It took her 5 months to complete 6 sloppy half-baked sessions. I felt she was lacadaisical and uncommitted to our agreement. 3. I complained to her about it. 4. She turned me in for "complaining in a text. 5. They KICKED ME OUT and ghosted me. Not a soul would speak to me..not the trainer, not the director, and they sent out an organizational note saying I was not to be spoken to. So...nice place to work out, but....management is dictatorial and the trainers aren't qualified to train a ham-sandwich."
"If you are looking for somewhere to send your child for summer camp, look elsewhere. Besides the lack of communication and disorganization being frustrating, the camp is also staffed with young, unexperienced counselors who have no idea how to manage a group of kids. Also, the feel of this camp is extremely unfriendly- never a hello from the 4 counselors who sit at the parent sign in table. They would always be too busy talking to each other to acknowledge the campers or parents who were dropping off for the day. After being extremely upset with the experience my child was getting and realizing that the MacColl YMCA camp did not have the resources necessary to take care of my child, I decided it would be in our best interest to find a new camp. The YMCA said they would have to charge us a cancellation fee for each of my children who were enrolled in camp. After stating that I was pulling my child because they did not have the proper resources to care for my child and I should not be responsible for a fee, they decided to waive the fee for my child who was at camp. However, they charged a cancellation fee for my other child who hadn’t even attended camp yet and stated that they would have to charge the fee because “she had not had any issues at camp,” even though she was not scheduled to attend camp until the end of the Summer. Save yourself the frustration and stay away from the Camp at MacColl YMCA. I wished I had read many of the reviews on here before signing my children up for Camp. It seems as though many others have had a similar experience."
"Neat and clean. Friendly staff. Their monthly programs are not continued every month. We need to enroll and register ourselves, which is painful."
"Would be a decent place if they were ever open. All weekend, they close at 3 pm. I have gone there multiple times forgetting this and had to turn around because of it. They're also closed, what it seems, every holiday. No clear signage posted about it and no mention of it on the street sign, "Closed Memorial Day" or whatever. So much for trying to stick to a fitness schedule."
