"The teachers have been excellent for a 5 year old, being able to keep them engaged and focused while catering to their skill level and still teach the fundamentals of music. Great atmosphere, relaxing lounge area to wait during the lessons, and an overall very positive experience."
"I have Used Onset School of Music for several years with my granddaughter. The piano lessons provided by their teachers are outstanding. Her skill and ability as a performer amazes me. If you want the best music lessons contact Onset School of Music!"
"My name is Nate Brown. I am 18 years old and on September 6, 2012, I took my first cello lesson at Onset School Of Music. At the age of 11 I had my first cello lesson with Liz at Onset. I still remember how exciting it was discovering the sounds of the cello during the lesson, as this was my first experience playing a musical instrument. I enjoyed the musical support of teachers and staff who made lessons fun, exciting, and enjoyable. One memorable highlight from studying at Onset was my teacher's help in preparing me for my first successful ensemble audition. My studies at Onset pushed me to pursue music seriously. Since 2012 I have been granted many leadership positions in orchestras, gigged with quartets, participated, toured central Europe with the New England Conservatory's YPO prep program, and lastly have committed to study Cello performance in college. Moreover, I highly recommend this school for music lessons, especially if it's ones first time playing an instrument like it was mine! I will always be thankful to Onset School of Music for inspiring me to make music and pursue my goals with cello."
"My daughter has been taking piano lessons at Onset for about a year now, and I never cease to be impressed with the great experience she is having. She has learned so much in that time, and she's learning not just technique but theory with some ear training as well. Her playing is amazing for the time she's been studying, and I know she is enjoying her lessons immensely. The whole environment is friendly, supportive, and overwhelmingly positive, and I am very happy we found Onset School of Music."
"I grew up playing piano and this year I finally asked my two boys if they wanted to play piano. Being short on attention and hard to please I imagined I could find something better than the typical piano teacher who works out of their home. I wanted the boys to be part of something bigger - so they could try different teachers or even different instruments. I also needed lots of flexibility with scheduling since my wife and I both work. I think I got all those things and more at the Onset school. It's got a great (huge) facility and 5-6 piano teachers to choose from. I will say the boys teacher is very different from mine as a child. Very low key - no piano book - no rigorous practice routine (like 20 minutes of scales every day) and he incorporates popular songs into every lesson. They haven't looked at a single piece of music but are playing songs with both hands and with some syncopated rythums. So after three months the kids still enjoy their lessons and are happy to show me what they have learned each week. Onset is not cheap - 30 minute lessons with them cost as much as a 45 minute session with a local favorite piano teacher. And actually their schedule for piano teachers is very full so we couldn't exactly pick our teacher - also when the kids can't come to their lesson their aren't a lot of choice to make it up that week. As a parent it is nice - OK great - that I can relax on a couch, watch TV, play pool, ping pong or set up my laptop and get work done while my kids have their lessons."
