Reviews of YOUNG Woods Elementary School
"I don't want to say that this school was bad but honestly, it was bad. I attended this school in 2008-2011 and I finally realized all the bad things I have experienced. I'm not going to write a review on the entire school itself because I haven't attended here for long but here's what happened. Kindergarten- Kids will lack experience with words and social interactions. I, was one of those kids who didn't know the difference between a word and a picture when it came to those math examples on the board. My teacher would yell at me for those mistakes and then when I only talk just a little bit when everyone was clearly chattering themselves away, only I was pointed out. It was clearly unfair but it wasn't the worst so Kindergarten wasn't bad. First grade- This one was the worst. I hated my teacher for she was gone a lot to get some surgery under her chin. I gave her points for that so she had an excuse but she had a very bad attitude that I just didn't like and she was also very harsh when yelling at kids. I forgot what grade this was but we were separated once to go to different classrooms due to the absence of our sub and the class I went to had upperclassmen in their. It was simple. Pick a book silently and read (according to the teacher's orders) and I did, never spoke a word. But she always called me out, had me sit next to her, sit alone in the back, stare at a wall to isolate myself from everybody when really, I didn't do anything. Now back to my teacher. If she was in a bad mood, she would shoo your child away until she's calm because one time, she was really mad and I scraped my knee outside. It was bleeding a lot so I went to her to ask about my knee but she just shushed me away without looking at me. My friends noticed and tried to point it out but she didn't listen. Eventually, she noticed when she was giving out instructions 15 minutes later in our lesson. 2nd grade- I didn't hate this one as much as I did in first grade because the teacher was actually nice. The only problem I had was the students. I was bullied a lot for my Asian ethnicity (but i'll get to that later) and so I was picked on a lot. My teacher thought it would be a good idea to let everyone do an essay and let students who finish be in charge (take questions and see if they can play with blocks and play do). Sadly, I wrote 4 pages of an essay because this one girl wouldn't let me play (one of my bullies) and I was so sad and mad. I tried to tell my teacher but she would just shush me away and tell me to talk to the students in charge. It was a very difficult year. 3rd- We had a teacher who was still in college for the year so we were just guessing that she didn't like us because the class would always talk so much. Then suddenly, she just disappeared. We ended up with a certified sub to teach us for the rest of the year and no one knows what happened to her. 3rd grade wasn't bad at all, my best friend got assigned to a different class but I got to see her from time to time. Gym- We had a really nice and funny teacher for the first two years, Mr. Anderson but he left at one point in time and we got a new teacher who was very...rude. It was very apparent that he didn't like kids and so was very strict with his teachings. Overall, it just wasn't a very nice school. The lunch staff was very kind and friendly so points to them, they should get payed more. But warning, there is an apartment complex right next to the school that holds kids around 13 years old. Sadly, these aren't very nice kids and will make fun of the foreign students. The office handles their stuff well and the principal I had when I was here 'Mr. Bacon' was very nice and cool. I don't know where he is now but I applaud to him and his hard work. Ever since the last day of 3rd grade, I moved to a different state, met better people and had better teachers how actually listens to you. The bullying I have experienced made me stronger, and is now attending a college program in high school on her way to becoming a cardiologist. I just only wished I stood up for myself back then."
