Reviews
"Hi, just to warn you that I would recommend reading this review to lose the risk of consuming expired foods or beverages. My family and I would go to Market Basket once in a while to shop. My dad shopped there yesterday and he bought chocolate oat milk because he thought it would help my sore throat. An hour after he came home, I went to the fridge to get some oat milk. I always read the dates to make sure they aren't expired. The milk said the expiration date was Oct 31 23 (or 2023). I appeared that it was about three months expired as we bought it on January 24 2024. My mom dumped it out before me and my dad were able to return it. 3 month expired food or drink should be unacceptable anywhere. If there was oat milk that expired 3 months ago, they obliviously don't check the expiration dates much. They should go though every oat milk to see if it's fresh or not. If you want to avoid expired milk and food poisoning, please check the labels first. On the bright side, it is inexpensive and they have foods that Hannaford doesn't have."
"Love the prices here and really enjoy the selections, many of which other stores in the area don't carry at all. However, customer service really tends to lack knowledgeable employees as well. When I go to the butcher, I like to know what kind of cuts there are for meat, and if the butcher has no idea, well, that doesn't give me much confidence buying meat there. Nonetheless, the prices are amazing, and again, I love their selection"
"Market Basket is a great place to shop, especially on the weekends. They always have enough checkers to handle the customers, so you don't have to wait in long lines. The store is clean and the staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable and the quality is good. I enjoy shopping at Market Basket because it is a pleasant and efficient experience."
"Not a bad Market Basket. Clean and well stocked. It gets quite busy like everything in this area so choose your visit time wisely. Large store with good selection."
"Husband went into Market Basket last night and purchased two tins of anchovies. Got them home and we opened them up and started draining out the oil and the entire contents of one can just slid out into the sink. The fillets were completely disintegrated! Decided to open the second can, this time pulling the lid all the way back before draining so we could take a peek at the contents inside. We were appalled. The fillets were mush! We then decided to check the expiration date only to find out they were best before 4/2023. Took them back to the store and management was not even the slightest bit concerned even when we showed them the pictures. Husband checked the aisle and all the remaining cans had the same best by date. He then went to get some goats cheese only to find that they all were past their expiration dates. We again showed management and they couldn't be bothered. The attitude was well don't buy it then. Perhaps they should be a little more concerned about selling expired food especially dairy and fish products."
