Reviews of Summit Montessori School
"10/10 recommend summit this school has helped me grow though there are some people who i will not miss. i have been at summit for 9 years, and it is a experience i will never forget."
"Our son has been at Summit for the past 3.5 years, and we love it. He goes to school excited to see friends and teachers, and the personalized approach to learning has been invaluable to his academic, social, and emotional development. The community is warm and welcoming... like a second home. :)"
"The teachers and staff are amazing. My son is in his third year and his mastery of the concepts that will carry him through his academic life are plain to see."
"This is a great school with the best of educators. My husband and I both attended Montessori and wanted the same for our son. Summit is a special place. The school is housed in the Ellis house. It is warm and welcoming and the school rooms are beautifully organized and sized for the children. Our son loves the ability to spend time doing "his work". His understanding of the world has grown immensely. His ability and want to learn is truly wonderful to watch. He does not want to leave at the end of the day but to continue. He gets excited when we mimick something he does or has in school because he then can demonstrate to us what he is capable of doing or teaching us what he knows. His understanding of math and the work he has put in on developing his pincer grab to enable him to write and paint is interesting to watch. you can see the foundation being built even though they just are "doing their work". His class has 3, 4 and 5 year olds and the older children mentor the younger ones. Our son comes home telling us how one student or another helped him learn a lesson. He wants be them, able to teach others and lead by example it drives him. Montessori allows for him to move ahead if he is capable. If he is needing more work that is fine too he has the models around him showing him how to get there. Our son loves his teachers. He beams when he talks about them. They have Spanish and music class which our son absolutely loves. They have a great geography curriculum. This year they are studying Europe and Africa. Our son at 3 told his mimi who asked him if he knew where she had been on vacation and he stated,"well you were in Italy, it is shaped like a boot and is in Europe." They mold land shapes in clay. They had music and dancers from Africa and our son came home and said," We had dancers from Africa today come for a visit. They spoke another language, I can't speak it yet, I speak English but I could learn just like Spanish." They have an author, an artist and a peace keeper a month that they delve into. Our son was very excited when they studied Mozart since he loves Pappagino from the Magic Flute. And recently in the car ride home was told, " there is a man, I don't know if you know him mom, but he was a doctor. They called him doctor the king and he was all about peace and kindness to others. Isn't that nice mom? How was your day?" I can't tell you how amazing it is to see your child excited to learn and then see them accomplish very significant goals with what looks like ease but is really a great deal of hard work from his teachers and him."
